ooh I have googled that wool…*envy*
been asked for a review of the hopticians…actually I have told them exactly what i thought…from the 'child' who did the eyescans…can you move to the side…which side? and to the lack of response to my request for an emailed receipt…I gave them my considered opinion. And a score of 5…and, on reflection, I think I'll look for a new one. Was an independent but got absorbed by a chain. If I am shelling out big bucks I think I want better service.

Morning all,
Ah, wool shops. My downfall, along with fabric shops.
Slow, meandering start to the day. The kettle is currently soaking to descale itself. There is no point in running the wm as DH was out last night and will no doubt bring home washing when he reappears, so that’s a job for later. Plus it is dull, wet and generally uninspiring outside. That all looks set up for a little flying then some sewing. The craft / spare room needs a quick flick through with the duster and vacuum cleaner now that DD’s packing has left the floor. I also need to book a ferry to France for later in the year.
Wanders off to actually find her Toots list to be able to tick something off it…..7 -

Morning all - I'm still here but🙃
Thinking of you, Fayolle - I well remember how bad I felt when my DC left home one at a time, but you're experiencing the empty nest on repeat, and with extra reason to worry about your DD. As HB said, she will be back! xx
We had a big decluttering day yesterday. Off to the textiles recycling went a double mattress cover, quilt, sheets, duvet sets and a pillow. In came 2 single duvet sets for DH - not designs that I would have chosen, but he was happy, so hey-ho. Apart from some cushions which I am keeping in store for a bit longer, to make sure that I really don't want them, the linen cupboard is sorted and tidy.
I also decluttered my hair and ££. Was not impressed that a young man who has practically the same style as me only paid £15 and I was charged almost double that. I am seriously considering changing my name to Bill.
Kermit the car is clean inside and out, though the floor on the driver's side is still quite damp - it needs another sunny day so that I can leave the windows open and let the breeze do the necessary. The brakes problem hasn't gone away entirely but I can live with it. Kermit is going back for his MOT in March, so I'll ask the garage to check again then.
This morning I have FUPA all the clean washing, S&S'd the kitchen, PUPa everywhere (except my study 😶) and hoovered the hallway, LR , DR, kitchen and utility. I'm awaiting delivery of a stick vacuum of a different brand as the Dy$0n is refusing to work properly. When the new one arrives tomorrow, I'll keep it downstairs to do the high traffic areas, and I'm considering buying a new battery for the Dy$0n in the hope that that will help, then keep that one upstairs to do the bedrooms and bathroom, which only need occasional attention.
I am about to go to MrAl, to re-stock the larder and FF ready for the new month, but will also call at the CS and drop off some more bits and pieces, several of them out of the kitchen - how did that happen???? I thought it was impossible to cut down on the minimal kitchen equipment I have, but apparently not.
Keep smiling, Flyfriends - it's Friday and almost the official first day of Spring🌾xxx

Morning all
Stiff shoulder/neck meant rubbish night's sleep and feeling grumpy - bah! 😾
So far I've opened windows✔️, aired & remade bed✔️ been for a walk✔️& done exercises✔️
After I've finished this grumpy coffee ☕️ I'll begrudgingly do levels 1, 2 & 3 from the list (whilst muttering to myself), followed by another HHI, PUPA and general tidying.
I might throw in some hurrumping for good measure

TD tumbling as I type.
Been to sit with ill friend whlle her hubby had some brief, but much-needed R&R. She apparently wasn't happy about the arrangement and made her feelings clear yesterday/this morning so he rang me to cancel but I put my foot down and said I was going. And it was fine. I read Clean and Green while he went out for coffee with his mate. Apparently she doesn't like to be 'seen'. If she were well enough to take it I would point out to her that at our great ages (she's a month younger than me) no-body is even looking😀
She told me today that she is suicidal (usually telle me she doesn't want to be here) so I will continue to support as best I can.
Got a bid on ebay - one of my ephemera bundles. So carp for someone else to deal with.

Afternoon all. Dusted and vacuumed downstairs this morning and washed the kitchen floor. One washload done and only two things left drying. Had a walk round the block and it was nice and mild. Rubbish night's sleep with lots of "busy" dreams so I woke up exhausted. Family problems on my mind so I expect that's the problem. Nothing I can do to resolve so I just have to worry. It was dry until about an hour ago and then the heavens opened.
Looking after DD2's dog this weekend so that will keep me on my toes (or flat on my back). He's a bit lively to say the least and I'm not as steady on my feet as I used to be so that makes an interesting combination. Never mind.
Hope everyone's OK x

A clear day with no work/gym/drumming until zumba at 5.45pm so I planned to do lots. Partly succeeded.
- spent a while pruning and shredding in the front garden.
- gave the en suite a good clean
- tidied kitchen, washed up and put away stuff
- had a quick check in lounge/diner as we're having a friend round on Sunday for lunch. Will run the vacuum cleaner round tomorrow or Sunday am (probably Mr N will while I'm at church)
- started the new gloves with the shiny wool……bit slippery and feels thin for an aran, but knits up fast even at my speed (slow). But shiny….
- did a bit more planning for Northumberland hol.
Tomorrow is fairly planned: lake swim am, brunch before visiting friend just admitted to hospital locally. We've got a concert booked in London for the evening so will visit L after brunch then get the train in. Also need to get sorted (including brief visit to Mr L on the way home from swimming) for roast dinner on Sunday i.e. at least take the meat out of the freezer.
Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.
It's tough getting rid of the past but it does free up space for the future.7 -
Morning all
I have been AWOL a bit so its been nice to catch up with the news. I had 3 days off work this week. DH was self employed for 22 years so when I had holidays he had time off too. Now he is employed it's not as easy to organise and he gets less holidays than me, so I was on my own, which like Fayolle made me a bit discombobulated.
Anyhow project decluttering continues, the main focus being my office which I want to redecorate, but this has led to stuff being pulled out of other cupboards and assessed for usefulness. One car load has gone to a local charity and another to the councils recycling centre.
Today is DHs birthday and I have booked tickets for a matinee performance of a play in a local theatre. We will have lunch out beforehand. Then tomorrow I want to start painting the big shelving unit in my office. I don't do painting and decorating but if it's going to get done then I need to learn.
Flying has been sporadic but the basics are done at least.
Have a lovely Saturday everyone.

Morning all xx
And breathe....
I saw the ENT consultant on Tuesday. He sent me down to the Path Lab to have lots of bloods taken. On 10th March I have an appointment for another ultrasound scan with a fine needle aspiration (biopsy). Then I'll see the consultant again when all the results come through. Consensus is that the lump is most probably benign but there's a small chance that it's malign hence all the tests. I've not heard from Endocrinology yet.
Pops was discharged from hospital in Benidorm on Wednesday. Babs found him in the bathroom floor at the hotel yesterday morning. Alive I hasten to add. He refused to go to the hospital but when he started rambling Babs and her son (Ian) took him anyway. He has a UTI and is on iv antibiotics but is unlikely to be able to fly home tomorrow as originally planned. Ian has to fly home tomorrow to be at work on Monday, but Babs is staying out there and DB and DSil are planning to fly out on Monday. I'll be on cat feeding duty. Of course this could all have changed overnight- it's been a roller coaster for the past ten days. Ian thinks Pops is 'just holding on until he gets home'.
And breathe ....
So. That's where I'm at. Remarkably calm considering. Interspersed with zoning out and talking gibberish. Which I do anyway so my colleagues are used to that at work.
Home now. It's weekend. So the plan is to work my way through the Saturdailies list. Calmly and without haste.
I've made my bed and supped my first brew. A second brew is required before I fly. Join me?
Love to all
