Having read the interesting debate above it seems to me that your experience of AI is largely to do with how much effort you are prepared to make to find answers: If you use it in a passive way you are likely to find AI very unsatisfactory. If you proactively work with it then you are likely to find it very rewarding.

In my experience the problems with AI are potential cost, poor code and hallucinations. The more "effort" you put into AI the bigger those problems can become and the insideous thing is that you might not even notice the problems.

Wife has Netflix. I watch YT. We do come together to watch Love Island on ITVX though. No TV licence. Only use a free offer for Prime at Christmas to deliver some presents. Prefer being outside doing stuff. Cheers!

When my monthly bill for TV/HBO etc topped $120 I decided to “cut the cord”. That’s a bit of a misnomer as I still had internet, but I got rid of all media subscriptions. You could argue that the TV license is an annual subscription I suppose, but Netflix, Sky etc are on top of that and those costs never existed before. Now I watch stuff in YouTube, broadcast TV and the free channels on a Roku plugged into the back of my TV. I’m reading more novels too and now I get to do the modern equivalent of saying “I don’t have a TV” at parties when I say “I don’t have Apple TV/Amazon/Netflix/HBO”. And my avoidance of AI is just an extension of my old man humbug when it comes to the latest technology…I’ve become stuck in a past around 2010.

I like your thinking. If I didn't pay it in the olden days I aint paying for it now, lol!

I think you just have to find the deals if you want to watch the latest stuff - there are ways to get discounts etc with a bit of effort -
Disney is free with my bank account
Prime is ‘free’ as I use amazon for majority of my shopping so have paid for the next day delivery etc anyway
Apple are always doing free 1/2/3/6 month deals and it has the least new content so signing up twice a year for a short while is more than enough..
Netflix is included in my broad band (so sort of paid for) - as was a free Apple TV box to act as the hub.

I very rarely pay anything for Amazon delivery. Some items, the delivery is included free, some will offer free delivery if you choose a slower (2-3 day) delivery option, and delivery to a local delivery/collection point, when available, is generally also free and allows for a short walk, which is always beneficial.

That was a while ago. It will be more now. Talking to UK friends I think US "telecom" of all kinds is more expensive than its British equivalent. US food and healthcare are also outrageously expensive in comparison, but petrol is still just 86p/litre…up from around 60p/litre.
