GP surgery parking ticket
Hello all. I attended my GP Surgery quite few times last year as I suffer from mental health issues, bereavement and recently hypertension and heart problems.
They have a small car park, where you have to sign in the car when you enter. But sometimes the computer was not working. Last November i got a letter to pay 170 as I havent responded to earlier letters. this was a first one. I appealed on their website, no reply till Yesterday, demand to pay before court action and an example case from court.
GP does not want to do anything with it, i feel overwhelmed…

Which country is your surgery in?

Do you know which parking company?
Debt agency may have traced you if no previous letters were received. Does DVLA hold an old address for you? Best to check address on your V5C, update online if needed.

Its in England. There were no letters, except one to pay. My address is updated and 12 years the same. My guess they are trying scare tactics. I had a legit reason to visit the doctor. Appeal was only possible on their website, there was no phone nr or address.
Letter is only from Enforcement agency.

The Debt collectors letter ( not from any Enforcement Agency. ) should have the name of their client on it, the private parking company claimant
Which debt collectors. ?
Complain about it to the practice manager in writing and get it cancelled ASAP, dont be fobbed off
Complain about it to your local MP too

If you don't want to talk to the reception staff about this (which I quite understand as some can get quite dismissive and huffy) then I suggest that you write a letter to both the practice manager and your local MP to make sure they are both aware of who you are contacting and ask that you get a response by X date (maybe 3 weeks?). That will hopefully take the anxiety out of the situation and make it easier for you to deal with.

I work in a GP practice. We would not never want our patients to be treated like this. Of course we would never made the mistake of asking a private parking company to oversee our car park!
GP receptionists usually do want to help their patients, they often are just a bit overwhelmed by how hard the job is how many different things they need to do and how little time they have to do it all. Please don't take it personally.
If you are their patient and you vulnerable then your NHS GP record will easily confirm that.
If the GP practice are also the landowner then it is unlikely that a "complaint" to the practice manager will not be dealt with appropriately. (Might be more difficult if GP practice are just renting the space and aren't the ones who chose the parking management).
Either way I do recommend you formally "complain" to the GP practice. If you are not sure how look on their website or ask their reception team for the complaints procedure. You can normally do it in writing - I would normally recommend emailing them directly.

I contacted my MP, and he sent a letter to the enforcement agency. Waiting for reply.

There is no enforcement agency, there are 3 participants, not including you or your MP
- The private parking company who issued the pcn on behalf of their client
- The powerless debt collectors who sent you the £170 demand ( don't pay it )
- The GP Surgery ( you have not told us the location
I hope that your MP has written to the Private parking company claimant involved and also copied in the Surgery practice manager too, not the useless debt recovery company
I also suggest that you tell us the name of the private parking company claimant involved and also the location address of the surgery

The company is called Civil Enforcement Ltd, has no address or phone, only website address
www.ce-service.co.uk
My GP practice is Churchside Medical Practice in Mansfield.
They refused to have anything to do with the letter, refused to give information, who is the owner of the car park.
The very first letter I received was demand to pay. I appealed on that website, but never received any reply, only final notice to pay.1 -
Let it go to a Claim Form then use the CEL defence.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
