Virgin Media - extension of discount
I’m over a month away from my existing deal finishing and VM have offered to extend my current deal by 12 months, presumably subject to the April increase.
Does anybody know if this locks me in for another 12 month contract ?
Edited,
Their email says
“We've extended your discount for 12 months”
Prices will increase every April in line with your T&Cs. This email is separate to the one we send out near the end of your contract, which will outline all your options, including options to renew your contract.

Yes, it'll be a new contract for whatever term they are offering.
Very surprised they are extending by 12 months, most renewals are for 24 months.0 -
I was just about to edit my original post, and add that the email says. “We've extended your discount for 12 months”.
they can’t unilaterally tie me into another contact, hence my confusion.I dread contacting them to clarify things.

In that case what CONTRACT end date is showing in your online account?

Contract end date is 16th April

Be careful - I almost got caught out by Virgin in the past when they extended my discount by 12 months, then offered a new contract of 24 months. If we hadn't read through the pricing and terms in detail we would have been stuck with a very expensive 12 months when the discount expired…..

I got much the same email - 1 Gig broadband for £40.25 per month:
As a valued customer of ours, we want to make sure we continue to offer you the very best deal we can. As your current discount is about to expire, we will apply the same* discounted rate for another 12 months, starting from 24 April 2026.
What this means is you'll keep enjoying our Broadband solus bundle uninterrupted and at the same great price* with no fuss and no new contract.
Thanks for being with us
Still going to be leaving them, they need to offer much better now there is a bit of competition in the area. For instance I can get 2 Gig fiber (up and download speed) for £35 a month, with no yearly rises. Why would I stay for a slower, more expensive service?

when I logon into my account and look at Manage My Package it has the offer to stay on the current price, but it looks like that is for 24 months, but it’s not clear, unlike the other 2 option there is no link to view the details.
I might be moving house this year so was planning to give my 30 days notice and use 5g tethering on an unlimited SIM. Tried it before and whilst not perfect it was good enough for my needs. So a monthly option with VM would have been ideal.

I'd rather they fixed the safe search and parental controls rather than offering discounts!
Ex Sg27 (long forgotten log in details)Massive thank you to those on the long since defunct Matched Betting board.0 -
If you just leave them to extend the discount for 12 months that should be rolling monthly. It should say something about 30 days notice for cancellation. Any contract you initiate online needs the T&Cs examining closely before acceptance in case it's only a partial discount for the length you're signing up for.
