Lender has requested a wall tie survey report

If the wall tie report comes back with issues, would you still want to buy the house anyway?

The signs of wall tie failure are horizontal cracks in the mortar bed joints about every 6 courses, or bulging walls. Some surveyors, especially near the coast, will ask for a survey, even without any signs. It's not a massively expensive job as long as the walls don't need rebuilding.

Have you not had a survey done your self ?
The house is nearly a hundred years old .

I'm not paying for a survey until the mortgage has been approved. Otherwise I risk losing money on the survey when the lender could reject the mortgage or I have to negotiate with the seller to lower the price if their valuation comes in lower. And until all of that has been sorted, I'm not paying a few hundred quid on a survey. I risk losing the money.

OK understood, but be aware that if the mortgage valuation is lower than the price you have agreed, it does not necessarily follow that the seller will agree to a reduced price.
