The total cost of BT
This is kind of ancillary to my previous question
BT have offered me Fibre 2 for £27.99 and Unlimited Minutes for £12.
Am I correct that these are unlimited landline phone minutes ?
Is there going to be any other hidden cost such as line rental ?

The price given is the price you pay. There has not been separate line rental charges etc for years now as they were outlawed.

Unlimited Minutes is to UK landlines and mobiles , it doesn’t have the need to ‘redial after 60 minute to stay free’ condition etc , for anyone making an aggregated 40 minutes or more of calls a month it’s the appropriate choice compared to PAYG .

Usually waiting until March 1st onwards avoids that years annual price increase, nobody can say what price BT will offer you at that time, I have always waited to renew and never been disappointed.

Do you mean waiting till March after the contract expires?

It can be the case that starting a new ‘deal’ or joining an BT at a certain point in the appropriate month can avoid the initial March 31st increase of £4 , but it’s not guaranteed, say someone joins Feb 20th , at £30/month , they know the price goes up £4 on the March 31st , so April bill will be £34 ,
it’s possible that someone joining around March 15th to March 30th , may , by the time the account is setup/authenticated etc within BT systems effectively be registered after 31st March and therefore £4 increase not applied as it’s applied on March 31st not afterwards , but that supposes that £30 is still the listed /offer price on March 15th , it may well go up to £34 , so although you avoid the £4 increase, you are paying the financial year 2026 standard price , not the previous financial year 2025 price.
As stated , it may work to your favour, it may not …., in your case the price on offer may have a time limit to accept , so you woukd need to check if the offer is open for 4 to 6 weeks , you may not have the luxury of waiting until mid to late March to accept a new BT deal at the offer price , if the offer and price expires, for example , the end of February.

March 1st, not long to wait,

£12 buys you unlimited minutes (& no 60 minute single call limit) to UK landlines & mobiles. I live in a patchy mobile signal area so keeping the landline as I can enjoy long conversations with friends & relatives without the signal dropping. If I was paying by the minute then most months I would run up call costs between £20 & £30, so the £12 is a no brainer.
