Mine matured on the 5th (Saturday), money has arrived to my bank account today at around 4pm. I ignored the letter. You don't need to close the account, as soon as it morphed into EA you can simply withdraw the whole sum to your nominated bank account. You can leave £1 there if you want keep the foot in, but if not you can just leave it at £0 balance, they'll probably close it at some point.
