Battery required

My Suzuki Baleno SZ5 Auto needs a replacement battery - the car has stop/start, that has never been used (it's disabled on dashboard).

Should I buy a stop/start compatible battery (£400+) or a standard battery (£100) ?

You need a stop start but £400 is far too much. Someone is having a laugh

    Which engine, what year? I'm guessing it's a late-2010s 1.0, not the 1.2MH?

If it has an AGM or EFB battery fitted now, you need to replace like-for-like. Which is it? The old one will say.

Stop-start is not some work of the devil. It's a very useful way to reduce exhaust emissions and fuel consumption in town. Starter motors are not going to die every other week.

You should get what ever is specified for that vehicle. but you can also shop around, and you maybe surprised at the price difference between suppliers. some suggestions for suppliers would be, allparts, gsff , motorparts direct, kwikfit, halfords. so shop around and good luck.

See what is currently fitted, there will be a label somewhere with the type and a part number. (on top or on the front)

Then order the same type of battery from somewhere like Tayna dot co dot uk.

£400 is about 3 times too much unless it is an extremely rare battery that has to be specially made to order.

I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

    its a 1.0 turbo 2017

kwik fit offer a 044N NAPA battery with a 5 year guarantee for £106 but it says "NOT FOR STOP START VEHICLES"

My reg is down as a Baleno SZ4 ! Not SZ5

Euromaster - same problem £88 for an SZ4

It will have an EFB or Enhanced Flooded Battery.

    I seem to think it's a 012 type battery.

50 to 55 amps and around 550 CCA..

Here Exide 012 EFB Car Battery 55Ah EL550 - Exide Car Batteries

As mentioned though, a quick check of your current battery would be advisable.

It will be written on it and you can do a quick measure of width, length and height, also check the terminal layout.

Non stop start Baleno's will just have a regular lead acid (wet) battery.

I would think because of age you wold need an AGM battery, My peugeot is a 2016 with stop start & has an AGM battery.

£250 / £270 feom Peugeot direct and fitted. So £400 is a joke.

I would call a few online shops to get the right battery, then compare prices.
