EE price increase (Again)
EE have just announced (after only recently putting my BB up £2 a month) that they are increasing my BB by £4 a month at the end of March which will make it over £32! Of course they did this after locking me in to a 24 month contract on the understanding of reasonable prices. I knew they were trying to sweeten me up when I got an email a couple of weeks ago about their new upgraded super-duper router they will be sending me.
Fortunately my contract ends mid March so any recommendations of better deals (not full fibre) would be welcome.
Thanks

sign up to BT or plusnet (no phone).
Anything else is likely to be full fibre

If Openreach have fibred your area, then you may have no choices other than go full fibre or stick with the supplier you have. When I looked around for a deal last Autumn, nobody would quote for anything but fibre.
Openreach are shutting down the copper network bit by bit.
If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
Why don't you want Full Fibre?
If its the phone part you want to keep, pick somebody with Digital Voice support, which includes EE ant BT (not Plusnet). Or port your number out.0 -
This post doesn't actually make full sense to me. You state you're locked in for 24 months then your contract ends mid March, which is it as it can't be both

Yep! When I signed up I soon realised how expensive landline calls were. So I went Lebara on my mobile for £5/mth. Good move I think as I got internet access as well which I had never had relying on cafe and hotel wifi. I will be leaving EE on contract end having been with them for 20yrs and BT before for 100 yrs. All my service seeking will be aggressive from now on; insurances, BB, phone. Sod the lot of them I say! I have now hardened my mobile against peeping Sheilas etc.

And I don't need full fibre as I get sufficient access anyway!

I am not interested in full fibre and can do without the landline if I really have to as I have just had another EE email stating my contract ends on the 14th March and it will increase from £28 to £40 which is ridiculous! And they have offered me a deal for 24 months (yeah right) 36mb speed that starts at £31.80, and then shoots up to £35.80 on the 31st March, and then £39.80 from 31st March 2027.
These jokers think I want to be locked into that for 2 years. What happened to rewarding customer loyalty. EE used to be so good with excellent customer service but now you can't get hold of them unless you download another app.
I am looking at PLusnet as the best overall deal and service.

You answered your own question re. customer loyalty. I don't believe there ever was any regardless, it's a purely one way street.

Yep, Plusnet seem my best option as I am used to 30+mb speeds, so anything better is a bonus.
