recharging

i have read a few times that i should adjust the settings on my phone by doing two simple things. This would mean i don't have to charge every day. Being sceptical to all "interference" i have tended to ignore this suggestion as "interfering for their gain( doing what they suggest may open pandora's box.

But curiosity keeps creeping in.

Is there a setting i should change, to extend my phones life?

Care to tell us what the "two simple things" are?

Suggestions around battery life are generally concerned with two different things

    1. Extending the time between charges, so reducing phone battery power draw
    2. Extending the lifetime that a battery can charge to, and retain, something approaching 100% of original capacity.

    Are you concerned with both?

  • There are a number of ways to extend battery life on mobile phones.

What options are you currently thinking about?

Things that are differerent: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid

Charging up to 80% is the usual one. It does mean of course that you have to charge up more often.

My Pixel phone does a slow timed charge overnight aiming to be fully charged by 7 am. A slow charge is better for your battery.

  • Yes, my phone has "charge protection", if selected. The battery charges to 80% only. According to the information "once a week the battery will charge to 100% to keep it calibrated".

This is a good question about charging. I can't see the point of having a bigger battery each time they bring out a new model if they suggest charging to 80% anyhow.

I have and do charge it to 100%, my old Huawei phone lasted 5 years until I changed the battery for a new one for £35 which then lasted another 2 years until I opted for a new phone. 5 years at 80% would have been a waste of time seeing the price of a new battery is cheap.

New phones now don't even come with a charger only a cable, so it's impossible to say if the chargers we are using are just right, too powerful etc
