RM causing issues again

I'm really getting frustrated at Royal mail as I once again have 2 INRs open, both items sent at the end of January, both LLs.

One is a business sale so all I can do is refund the buyer, and because it was a low cost, to me, stock item there's no point in wasting time fighting for a refund from RM so I've lost the original amount paid, plus the profit. The other is a private sale -and I might ask the buyer to hold out for a couple more days and then I'll refund it. That one doesn't even show as accepted by courier - so goodness knows what's happened to it. I do have a receipt so might try a claim on it.

I am now so fed up of RM either being ridiculously slow or not delivering at all that I'm seriously considering moving most of my private LL items across to Simple delivery. I've started moving all the LLs over 100g and may well continue even with those under 100g.

My own inward post is just as bad, so far in the past couple of months we've had several hospital letters go astray, membership cards to a museum, a magazine and a small handmade gift my God daughter sent me.

Sorry this is more of a rant than anything, my private account on ebay doesn't generate huge amounts of sales so these losses are beginning to become quite a serious percentage of items sold using custom postage.

    Very annoying.

We had a xmas card delivered on Monday that was posted 30 miles away a few days before Xmas.

i sell everything through my ebay shop even my own items

my laziness just makes it easier to do my accounts

i have had 2 LL go missing in january both were £1.55 stamps so no tracking

1 the only item of 19 i sent that day not to have tracking and the only one that had a claim last week

i also cannot be bothered to fill out 20 mins of finding receipts / paperwork/photos and addresses for lost post under a tenner i just refund /

both addresses straight forward though / looked them up on streetview and 1 was detached and the other semi detached in small towns

i am not sure if they actually went missing or experienced buyers see the stamp and know there is no tracking

i have about 18 to post in the morning and will send them all standard £2 and parcels 48 tracked not siigned for the sake of 45p might as well class them all as over and get a tracking number

of large letter over 100g i lost 1 that had a tracking number and i could see it had not arrived and refunded and asked 4 buyers to open an item not received case and when they did i added the tracking number showing item was delivered and ebay closed the cases in my favour

i have bought approx 3000 items off ebay and find royal mail reliable in essex / when i lived in london not so much

Simple delivery will cover it, people using QR stamps may as well kiss the item and money goodbye even showing proof of postage won't help you with eBay tracking claims.

As per my OP I can’t use SD for my business orders so just print off RM labels at a cost of £1.55. Most show as delivered , I’m just finding more and more now than simply disappear. I have switched a lot more of my private LLs across to SD until RM start Improving .

It's frustrating. Royal Mail where I live is great, I won't order if Evri as they dump anyway unless I order to a collection point. I ordered a drop off to shop, the seller sent via evri and has a photo of the delivery outside a random house near the shop. Yet my friend who lives a mile away has a different delivery person from Evri who are great. So many different experiences all depending on the local service

Just had another INR opened :(

I've decided this is bordering on the ridiculous now and have spent half an hour submitting RM claims for all the lost items, even the £5 ones, I wasn't going to bother but I can't carry on with this level of loss.

Incidentally, I now note that even for RM 2nd class items they ask you to add your proof of postage and tracking, as I use ebay labels I do have the basic tracking, but I wonder if it can be bypassed if you just use stamps, has anyone tried?

    update:

I’ve had an email from RM for every one of the claims I made yesterday, the bulk of the message says

‘After carefully considering the evidence you provided, it’s clear that we didn’t meet our usual standards on this occasion, and I sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused.

We’ll be issuing a payment shortly in recognition of this service failure. If you requested a higher amount, I regret that this is the maximum we’re able to offer in line with the terms of the product used. For more details, please visit our website at royalmail.com.’.

The actual payment amount isn’t mentioned so I will await any updates about refunds or books of stamps and update this thread later.

I am still using stamps for 2nd class RM large letters - need to use up too many stamps. There is no tracking so I just mark it dispatched. So far no one has opened any requests so I am assuming that they have been delivered. Buyers hardly leave feedback so it is difficult to know if and when they have been delivered.

There was one 2nd class large letter which I posted on Monday afternoon and it had reached by Wednesday morning - at least I got the feedback before lunchtime!

I'm having much the same problem. I use stamps and take parcels to my local PO then they go to the RM sorting office but the delays/losses are ridiculous, it looks like over 10% of the parcels I send are affected! I can claim for losses up to £20 which covers most of them but not the damage to my eBay account or the time I spend dealing with complaints. I have started phoning customer services who will say they cannot help and refuse to allocate a reference, which is against the law as they have to deal with complaints properly. Their refusal means I can then go direct to the Postal Review Panel and the Ombudsman to further the complaint.

The only way they will learn is by putting pressure on them, they are currently being investigated by OFCOM for failure of service.

This was one of the reasons I decided to start making claims, I usually don’t bother for small amounts but realise these losses then never get recorded or acknowledged at all.

I’ve moved quite a few of my private sale LLs across to SD which may impact my sales, but overall will stop me wasting time dealing with INR and RM claims . I can’t do anything about the losses on my business account though , I have to use custom postage and any claim I make is limited to the actual cost price of the item, and that can be quite low, but I can’t claim the profit element at all.

I’ll be interested to see how much, and how they pay out the claims I’ve made so far and which they have acknowledged.
