I am on EE but looking to change. I got a Vodafone PAYG SIM to check the signal and left in myphone for a few hours. Now gone back to my EE SIM which is working but on the Connections page under Settings it now says the my service provider is Vodafone. How can that be when the Vodafone SIM is NOT in the phone anymore. How do I get it to say EE??? I have tried restarting the phone to no effect.

What phone? What operating system version?

Normally there is a mechanism for resetting the network connections if its not doing it automatically but depends on how old your phone is

Is the phone working OK with the EE SIM? Correct phone number in/out? SMS sending/receiving OK? Data working OK?

You can reset that connection data information but it's not critical if everything is actually working.

Samsung S24+. All up to date and is working, just dialled my landline from it and it shows my correct EE number as the caller. So all is working as it should., Says EE on the main front screen, just this Vodafone as the Service Provider on the Connections page of Settings and I can't see any option to change it. If I click on it it tells me to download the Vodafone app!

Any chance that the phone was originally sourced from Vodafone?

I have similar with a Samsung but showing O2 as the Service Provider, phone was sourced from O2 and has their firmware.

Double check that mobile data is working OK (turn off W-fi, browse a website).

You could try going to Settings, Connections, Mobile Networks, Network operators, turn off "Select automatically", select "OK" to Select a network manually?, select EE from the list

although if everything is working as it should you could just leave it alone.
