Well don't just dump it, google recycling PCs.
Computers have lots of valuable metals and also some hazardous waste components, stuff that really really doesn't belong in a landfill.

No I certainly wasn't just going to 'dump it'. Simply a poor turn of phrase on my part. I am an ardent recycler and hoarder (This broke down 2.5 years ago!) I have never disposed of a computer before so needed some advice.

ive seen 3ghz p4 dells on freecycle before, i would either keep it as a spare or freecycle/ebay it with 1p reserve.

sad thing is it is a perfectly good pc, for someone just wanting to surf the web but most of that market already has one and dont really need to change, its weird to think that 4gigs will be the standard notebook memory this year, im about the only person i know that could use that much and thats with vmware.

I may be able to make use of the motherboard and/or memory etc.

I would be grateful if you could PM me so that I could find out more about the memory configuration.

    Thanks
