Painting composite front door

thank you, that’s interesting. It does have a wood grain effect. I have the original receipt for the door (left by previous owners) so maybe I need to find out exactly what it’s made of, I presumed they were all made the same.

I’ve found this for our model..

So what the main part of the door is made of is not relevant, as it has had a thin wood grain effect film laminated onto the surface. I think they tend to be also UPVC as it has very good weather/UV resistance , but I do not know for sure.
You could try calling the supplier, although in the end you may just have to try and paint a small corner and see how well it goes on.

it’s a shame they chose the colour I like the least, as that range come in lots of lovely colours as I’ve just seen. I searched GRP painting a and it gives same search results as composite / UPVC so, I guess it’s worth a try, too new and good a door to pay for a new one but just can’t stand the colour. If we ruin it…. Well yikes

Zinsser will adhere to grp, the main thing to to prep any surface you want to paint.
And for added measure use Zinsser primer bulls eye 123
A thankyou is payment enough .1 -

It can be tinted to any colour you like.

by mixing it? I’d rather not be doing that, especially as it will need redoing after a few years

Go to a Dulux Decorator Centre (or Crown, Johnstones etc) not a DIY shed and ask them to tint it for you.
They can tint Zinsser Allcoat to pretty much any RAL colour you like. You can pick one from a colour chart if that suits. If it needs repainting in a few years then even if you don’t have any of the original paint left then as long as you have a photo of the original label giving the reference number of the colour they’ll be able to mix some fresh for you.

I used hobby paint that said it was for outside use, very small tins I used 1 tin for each door. Don't know how to make links on this new layout
