Talk Mobile Roaming fair use policy

Hi Folks,

Both my Wife and myself are with Talk Mobile. Presently out of the UK in Spain. We are three weeks into a five week trip.

My Wife has received a message saying she has used 80% of her ‘fair use’ roaming policy, which is 5GB. Her monthly allowance is 50GB of which she general uses 5-6 GB. It does not state how long the fair use policy applies. I am assuming the whole period we are away?

Annoying as the first text you get states you can use your data subject to the fair use policy yet you have to follow the links to determine what the policy is.

Likely its per billing month, only you know when that ends.

Dual SIM phone? Cheap data SIMs from pretty much any shop in Spain for not much money.

Must admit 5GB seems stingy, I am on a 50GB a month thing with Lebara and I can use up to 30 of it in the EU (and India, apparently)

Perhaps if you go abroad to the EU often, consider a change of provider.

Talk mobile roaming is capped at 5gb per billing month, so it will reset when your allowance does.

If you do go to a shop in Spain for a SIM card remember to take your passport with you. Speaking from experience of having owned a property there.

Good point, I'd forgotten that the UK is a bit of an outlier in allowing anonymous mobile use.

Does the need to "register" when buying a SIM in Spain always apply or are data-only SIMs exempt?

Can't say for certain, but having had property in Spain for 10 years and experienced first hand the level of bureaucracy, I would take a passport along to be sure.
