New radio clock bought on vinted stopped working after 1 week

I recently bought a radio clock from vinted described as new. When I connected the batteries, there were some issues with the battery compartment and radio will switch on. I did email the seller requested a refund but later on when I tried again it works and I was pleased as ut was a good buy. Now disappointed it has stopped working after a week, the issue seems the batteries do not stay connected and seems loose. I have tried different batteries and it’s the same. It was new but I guess the guarantee is not valid. I have accepted the item so I have to accept my less less than £10. Not a bargain after all. Is that a change one must take when buying through eBay or vinted? Thanks

Have you tried gently stretching the springs, or the prising out the retaining clip?

Is there an input socket for a mains adaptor?

I was looking at radio clocks recently and most these days seem to require a power input from a mains adaptor, either with a dedicated plug or more commonly a USB input.

Any replaceable batteries are just for short term backup, maybe that's why they are not lasting long.

Suggest you check the specs.

I remember these from yester year and I had one that had a 9 volt battery inside as a back

up incase of power cuts.

Also remember the mess the battery made when it leaked through the case and onto the bedside cabinet.

@Boohoo, the only battery that could be checked by licking the contacts, LOL.

Ebay and Vinted are different in this respect. On Vinted buyers have 48 hours to notify of any issues, on ebay it is 30 days.

I remember my older brother gave me one of those batteries to lick and a few years later I was doing the same to my younger brother much to my mum's horror.

this is the clock, the battery compartment seems to have only spring, seem weird. Was it meant to be like that. Definitely something wrong. Guess it’s a chance I took when buying from vinted at discounted price.

Note only one spring.

One spring is the normal configuration and that goes against the flat end of the battery.

There should a cover for the battery compartment to prevent them falling out.

You say 'batteries' but that compartment will only hold one battery
