Cooling Off periods were never intended as a ‘ try before you buy ‘ scheme, it’s to provide a period where upon reflection someone could change their mind without penalty , like perhaps the original ‘sales pitch’ was pressured , it gives an opportunity to cancel within 14 days or whatever ….if the product start date is after the cooling off period runs out there is nothing intrinsically wrong with that as the customer still had the cooling off period to reconsider their choices.

Worst case the tech service was entirely separate with no minimum term, so you have no expectation the price would stay the same through your main broadband contract.

Best case you only purchased the main broadband contract if you could get the extra tech service as otherwise it would be untenable to go through regular customer service. Your argument is they breached this, causing you to lose £3 a month - but that's provided you actually pay for the tech service after the free period. The cheapest resolution could be they offer the equivalent tech service for £4.95 or they give you a £3 x remaining months credit. Its not major enough to tear up the entire contract. You would be required to mitigate your losses whihc is not getting a whole other contract.

Thanks to all for your help.
I’ve emailed their complaints dept. outlining my concerns.
Not holding my breath but nothing ventured, nothing gained.
