Problems with EE Talk and Text tariff.

I've had an EE Talk and Text plan for years, renewable at £1 a week.

It normally renews every Monday, not so today.

I've rung EE to query why not. I was told there is apparently a fault. However, the helper I spoke to told me that if she were to update my account manually, it would mean I would be on a more expensive tariff as they no longer offer the Talk and Text plan.

She advised I should wait for the fault to be fixed, which I'm going to do. But I do hope they're not, by stealth, engineering a way of removing this tariff because it's no longer competitive.

If they did it would be comparable to what Tesco have done recently.

Sounds similar to the O2 Classic tariff that is still supported but can no longer be bought (from O2).

Is it being collected by Direct Debit or Continuous Card Authority at £1/week? Quite surprising that they haven't ended this tariff some time ago, must cost them more than this to monitor and collect.

Do you need to be on EE? If your Vodafone coverage is OK then Asda Mobile have a Talk/Text plan at £4/mth.

Problem has been rectified, although was told this tariff will not be offered to new customers, which after reading flaneurs_lobster's helpful post, I suppose is understandable.
