Faulty pvc front door
I bought a new door and had it fitted by builder after 12 months had to get locksmith out who could only temporarily fix the door I contacted B n Q over this as it was guaranteed for 15 years and the lock and moving parts 2 years they then sent me a new door and frame which I had a builder fit that one and take out old one I've got receipts and then contacted b n q where I was told I have to claim back both for refitting the door and the locksmiths costs but they are saying my new door will now not be covered by any guarantee is this right ?? It does not seem very fair

it's not fair but I had the same when I claimed for a dishwasher from littlewoods. The replacement wasn't covered any more.

You’d to check the terms OP, whoever offers the warranty is bound by them and can’t change them without your agreement, but either way you’d still be covered under consumer rights for 6 years from delivery.

Will consumer rights for the new door be 6 years from delivery of that door, or 6 years from the purchase of the original? If the new door is covered for 6 years, rights could potentially continue indefinitely.

Thankyou for your reply I'm waiting to hear back from b n q over claiming the fitting n locksmith money back but will also double check over the quarantee as they just kept going on about compensating me ???

Guarantee runs from date of first purchase. Only ever accept 1 replacement for this reason.
IE new appliance with 2 year cover fails after 8 months, replacement fails after 8 months …. bt the time the 2nd replacement fails you have no cover.

It's from the original purchase date.

is the ‘guarantee’ an insurance product which ceases when you make a claim?

How does this work? Surely the Guarantee would run for 24 months for date of purchase however many times the items were replaced.

Sounds like a brilliant scam
Make an item with a design life of 12 months
Offer 15 year guarantee
replace once when it fails
Take failed item and repair and give to next person who has a failure as refurbished
then user cannot claim under consumer rights from retailer as they cannot return or allow to be repaired the item that the retailer sold

It already happens when a manufacturer replaces an item under warranty.
That item is no longer what the buyer bought so no longer covered by Consumer Rights. There have been posts about that situation b
