Water bill increase
just received this years bill, going up by 15%, ridiculous considering it went up loads last year too. (United utilities). Anyone else have a high one again this year?

Our quarterly bill (typically 28-31 cubic meters) has gone up 48.8% compared to the same quarter a year ago. United Utilities also.

Water bills will be rising above inflation for at least five years after half a century of chronic underinvestment and prices being kept artificially low.

Get used to it, sadly. Above inflation bills are the new normal now as water becomes liquid gold and the statement that it's for investment carries on forever more, beyond five years time. The days of affordable water are gone.

Water is still very affordable.

I think you mean chronic profiteering and unjustifiable corporate bonuses have led to a lack of investment in infrastructure and process.

So, government is removing the extra charges on electricity that fund renewals and nuclear. Which they made a big deal and song about it the press. They are now adding these to water bills for infrastructure investments. No big song and dance in the press about this though.
Private companies have to go to their investors to raise capital if they can't borrow from the banks.
Why are the so called, privatised water companies, not forced to do the same?,
Their investors (shareholders) have received handsome dividends over the years, while investment remained low.
