indigo airlines , can i claim .

Had flights booked with indigo airways , an indian airline .

The international leg man>bom / bom>man was booked on one pnr , the two domestic internals seperate pnrs , so one return flight and two singles . All flights got rescheduled multiple times in the days leading to flight departures, resulting in missed connections.It turned out impossible to plan or travel using indigo, as you never knew what time or day they eventually take off !

due to missed flight had to book an air india flight to a different airport upon landing. We had the air india desk after a half hour conversation saying theyd actioned a refund and added notes to the pnr , which I think they said to get rid of us , and wed get a refund in 7 days . Its a month later no refund .

indigo messaged to say we have rescheduled your return home bom > man flight for 25 hours later ?!!? This meant our booked domestic goi to bom flight now was wrong . I web chatted indigo a few times who basically all said tuff we will not refund the internal. So I had to book a brand new goi to bom flight ,the alternative was wait 25 hours in mumbai airport waiting for their rescheduled flight ! We were honourable enough to keep our business with them than cancel the rescheduled flight , gestures of goodwill we later realised only worked one way .

so officially down as “no show” on this flight due to their flight change for international leg, and refusal to help us . total waste of money and no help from them

another late delayed flight , and because of the delay of our rebooked flight , our rescheduled bom >man flight had now departed ! Its impossible to work with this airline you end up chasing your tail . by the way the chap in goi airport said dont worry , this flight will make up the delay time , the outbound of next flight is delayed and you will still get there . plus theres another flight two hours later if we do miss it , which we wont . none of this is true , they only do flight around every other day , the flight took longer and didnt make up time , and the gate had closed for the light . 3 lies to get rid of us in goi airport !

so yeh the flight departed , officially a “no show” , the army wouldnt let us into departures as flight gate had closed and sent us to indigo reservations , like many from this flight incl russians and indians . .

Went to indigo reservations office as instructed, who said tuff youve missed your flight . We said yes cos you moved our first one , then we wasted ourfirst connection, then our rebooked connection now was late , and now weve missed your rescheduled flight . All their fault . They didnt want to know . Made us rebook again a new flight the next day at full price . After heated arguments for an hour , we eventually got a discounted reduced rate but still had to pay again . Criminals !

and yes a tidy 5 hour delay as a final thanks from indigo . It was a 4 hour delay plus a further hour delay sitting on the tarmac on the plane until take off … 5 hours .

so as well as having to rebook and purchase multiple flights , extra hotels for three nights , losing first days hotel , and having every flight continually moved maybe several times each most days something moved,the return leg delaying us by 3 days , meals , cabs, 2 days wages each , etc etc , weve been left picking up the tab every step of the way . We tried claiming with indigo under £100 CAR compensation ,but they say “sorry operational reasons” and fob us off . We filed a claim with our travel insurance , but await case openingwithin 10 days . Anything else we can do ? And more importantly are indigo liable for compensation to us . Albeit not at uk/eu rate ? Or will insurance cover us

My initial 4flights [2 there 2 back] , ended up being 3 there , 4 back . Never known anything like this and every step they just say not our faultpay again ! what would you do ? Cheers guys .

    Sounds like you're pursuing the only options open to you, unless there's any Indian regulatory liability that they're not meeting, in which case you could potentially take them to (an Indian) court?

    I don't know what 'CAR compensation' is, is this some sort of compensation promised within Indigo's terms?

    Likewise, on the insurance question, it'll come down to the terms of your specific policy rather than a generalised answer.

  • cheers for that. i cant post a link here , but searching "indigo car compensation scheme" brings up the result at the top of the page. hopefully it will show you what im seeing . it compensates up to 10,oooRps , around £82 at current rate . not much but something each .. thanks
