Morning everyone it’s torrential here and windy we are due snow later but i think it might pass us by hopefully. I’ve been and done a cleaning job hubby gave me a lift there and back but I’m missing getting a decent walk in . Taff take care of that ankle feet up today . DP1 when it was my friends mams 90th birthday they all went to the home she was in for a little party she was sitting there in a foul mood refusing any birthday cards and giving them all back to the staff insisting it was her 40 th birthday and refusing to accept some poor old woman’s card my friend was herself 60 at the time only 30 years older than her own mother my own mother always was putting things in a little case ready for the holiday to Italy that Tony Blair kept inviting her to no idea where that come from as she had no intrest in him or politics for that matter. I will be in for the rest of the day hubby will take little dog out later she doesn’t mind the rain she just hates her coat Gers I hope you are alright take care of yourself. Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing10

Hello all, sorry I haven't posted lately but my health deteriorated and I was sleeping a lot. The weather has been awful lately, lots of rain and high winds, even our local boating lake has overflowed but thankfully it's dry at present. Yesterday I managed to have my blood test, an x ray and collect my meds but there's no reason to go out today so I'm staying put. I called in on dad and we are concerned about his thought processes. He had a call from his bank on his landline to verify the payment of electric and he kept shouting at me to use his mobile. He couldn't understand that they had called on the landline and you had to put in a code on that phone no matter how many times we explained it🤷♂️.
Today I've emptied the dw but the cooker and kitchen worktops need cleaning, thankfully Mr Fix it is on hand to help, he's a gem !
Hugs to all, healing vibes to the poorly ones, especially Lionel.
nan xx
Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently11 -
Afternoon all, thanks @Scarlet for today's start. It's a day of W's - wild, wet and windy! Not a day for going out but my general household waste needs to go out for tomorrow's collection - if the rain doesn't ease off at some point it will have to wait!
Yesterday I called in at the community hub and made a repair appointment for my heating timer on Thursday afternoon. Then I moved on to Sainsburys for a few bits and pieces; I don't go in person often but whenever I do I can guarantee that things have moved around and yesterday was no exception. The return of the unwanted item didn't happen as they needed sight of the bar code on the e-receipt which is on my laptop and obviously I didn't have that with me. 😠 I'll try again once DS has shown me how to transfer it onto the i-phone he's given me. Tech is not my strong point.
Nothing unusual happening today and, thanks to the rain lashing down, I'm not feeling motivated to do anything either. If I'm really stuck for something to do, I could have a read of the How-to guide for the new text editor the Forum is using. I've had a quick glance at it but so far it's gobbledegook. Told you I wasn't tech-y! 😁 Easy tea tonight of bacon, egg and hash browns.
@TA - Happy to hear your DGD is crocheting lots of hearts, bless.
@silver-oldie - You'll always treasure that heart even if it makes you sad sometimes. X
@dp1 - Glad your mam's doctor's appointment went as well as could be expected - I remember those questions only too well from when my DF was being tested. I wonder if 1956 was a significant year for your mam?
@nanny - I'm sorry your explanations aren't helping your dad, it's so frustrating for you and no doubt him too. I eventually got to the point where I didn't offer explanations to my dad, just nodded and agreed with everything he said.
@Gers - If you're reading along I hope you're well and Lionel is comfortable.
It sounds as if quite a few on here have had to cancel their plans for today for various reasons, it's such a shame when we need something to brighten up these dreary days. I'm sending the usual hugs for the poorly ones and hoping for swift recoveries. Take care all, stay warm and dry. X

Afternoon everyone. Thanks for all the good wishes about Lionel, unfortunately he died in the early hours of this morning. His condition seriously deteriorated on Thursday, very unexpectedly, and he was made comfortable since then. His niece went home on Sunday and I remained with him. Yesterday I spent 15 hours by his bedside but he chose to hang on until 1.30a.m. The medics made sure that he was peaceful and calm for the final three days.
All the staff at the hospital were outstanding, including the small palliative team all of whom made sure to look after me, feeding me meals and umpteen cups of tea. His niece now takes up her legal responsibilities and my POA has ceased.
I arrived back home about an hour ago to find a blooming power cut - happily it came back on not much later. I'm certainly frazzled and tired so will do not much for the rest of the day. The weather is dreadful, I came across a number of fallen trees on my drive home so it was a slow journey.
I haven't read back much of the past three days, apologies, but I will catch up tomorrow. Healing vibes to our poorlies, families and friends. Hugs to all.

My condolences @Gers. I think we all suspected the worst but you can take comfort in the fact Lionel is now at peace and that you've been a good friend to him. Rest up and take care of yourself. X

Afternoon all, I think we are getting off lightly with the storm compared to some of you.Hope you are all ok. The rain was quite heavy when I took LDog out at 9 but it's stopped now. I actually have done some shopping at the retail park this morning, 1st time over in a month. I needed to get my BF a gift token for her birthday so M&s it was . Got some reduced fajitas for tea. Feeling a bit tired now so might read for a bit.
Lovely to hear about the crochet hearts. Attic24 is a nice site for patterns and tutorials but my SiL swears by Bellacoco too, she is now really good - I just do squares 😀
Sending well wishes to the poorly people.
