Hope everyone hasn’t got washed away - was surprised not to see a thread so far!?
It’s been torrential here for hours, already mopped up the usual leak at the back door.Yesterday was busy at work and I was cold so felt tired when I got home and consequently didn’t do much. Will catch up today.Best wishes to all the poorlies and thoughts with those caring for friends and family,

Morning @AlwaysAllie thanks for starting us off today x
Another rubbish nights sleep this time due to DD who had a date and then didn’t come home. I mean I know she’s 24 but she could have messaged. She is on her way home now apparently. Kids!!
I was meant to meet a friend at a NT property this morning but due to flooding in the lanes hereabouts and our car issue still not resolved, I’ve decided to cancel. Will arrange for a few weeks time.DH’s cold has gone to his chest so he’s feeling very sorry for himself. We will have a quiet day today. Dinner is sticky chicken and rice.Glad you’ve arranged a meet up with the new lady @mehefin - hope it goes well xx
Hope Lionel is doing okay @Gers x.Hugs to our poorlies and have a good day all.CoxyCross-stitch WIP: Haberdashery Shop Fiver Friday challenge 2026 founding member 😊 Read 26 books in 2026 1/26 Currently reading The Trial by Rob Rinder16 -
Good morning
Thanks for the start AA. I have also had a rubbish nights sleep, sneezing and coughing. It looks like the lurgy has found me, I just hope it's not too bad.
Heavy rain here, and strong winds, but luckily I haven't got to venture out. DH will walk BD (hopefully), it'll be a hard job to get him out in this weather.
Braising steak and onions for tea, nice and comforting.
My thoughts are with Gers and Lionel, as always, and anyone else who is sad or poorly.
Have a good day, take care.11 -
Morning folks and thanks ALLIE. The weather hasn't been quite as bad here as further south, although it was lashing down earlier. The sleet that was half promised never arrived and the wind not quite as strong either.
It's supposed to be lunch with DF today but, as usual, I await the text confirming. It's all dependant on their various ailments.
If lunch is on I shall go down town a bit earlier as there are a few bits I am needing. If it's off I shall stay put, the bits will keep for another day! I'm sure I will find some jobs here to occupy me!
Have a good day folks if you can with ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, sad or lonely and hoping LIONEL is being kept comfortable. Take all, be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"11 -
Morning all, it's set to rain all day except for maybe a brief interlude at twelve. I went to the allotment yesterday and finished digging the fruit cage so that's one major job done, next one, prune the apple tree. Quite pleased that's been done but that means no walking about today, ankle is knackered. Off to OHs mums for tea tonight so one less meal to think about
I do have to go out to get some cat treats and some cat food but the shops are close enough and I'll take my stick [ I will still be driving to them] Other than that, there's crochet to play with, or reading or something. Next door was on one of his outbuilding roofs yesterday putting tarp on it so I passed him up some stuff to weight it down. House behind and opposite has a polycarbonate wrap around lean to and parts of that were flapping about in the wind too, I wouldn't be surprised if some of it blew away. Coxy, sorry about the rubbish night, and the inconsiderate child
remmie, how did your OH do with the shopping? TA, I've been getting a lot of how to crochet stitches on my feed, some of them are really cute, so there'll be more of that in my future. Bella Coco is a good one for left-handed how to's, she basically just flips the video so it's easier to learn. If your DGD runs out of wool, I can always send some
Gers, hope all is ok with you and Lionel is still as good as he can be. Izzy, hope you haven't been washed away, any of you with terrible weather are ok too! Take care all, just stay in

Morning all
Pouring with rain here and has been most of the night and will be all day storm Chandra is making it’s presence known, many roads are flooded and closed,
I have two people coming today and we have decided to have a day indoors which is very rare they usually like to go out and about but there is only so much you can do in the rain, we are going to have a cosy day indoors do some baking watch some films and light the fire, Rupert will probably do some of his artwork.
DD has taken her car into the garage today there is something wrong with the electrics so Ive said I will go and pick her up later it’s about an hour round trip but better than her trying to get the train in this weather.
Dinner tonight will be chicken casserole I will put it in the sc this morning so it will be ready for when we get back I will just need to do some rice.
Gers I hope all is ok ? I notice you didn’t post yesterday, sending love xxx
Have good days all and take care xx12 -
Raining here too and so dark.
We're off to a funeral at lunchtime; luckily only about 45mins drive but I hope the rain stops before then. After that I need some more milk and might pick up some veg to go with our planned evening meal.
Last night's Scottish dance class was better; a few more people from the main class had been asked to come to swell the numbers but it still doesn't grab me like other forms of dance.
DH phoned up about our oven door not closing completely and there's now an engineer booked to come next week. To be honest, it's been like this for months so we should have got onto it earlier. If it can't be fixed it will be new oven time, as the timer doesn't work anyway!
Hope Lionel is currently comfortable Gers; I know you said you were going to be down there yesterday and today.
Hugs to all and stay dry.10 -
Morning everyone
Very wild and windy here, and still raining.
Thanks for all the get well wishes, my chest does feel a bit better though I still have an awful cough, different from my usual Long Covid cough. I've finished the antibiotics so hopefully my stomach will settle down now.
I think we're all fearing the worst when we haven't 'seen' Gers, I know we're all thinking of her and Lionel.
My mams' doctors appointment was ok, the lady doctor was so nice with her. It didn't get off to the best start when she asked mam if she knew what year it is, oh yes of course I do she said, it's 1956! The rest of the questions some she got right and some wrong, the doctor took bloods to test for deficiencies in various things. Depending on their outcome, the next step will be a home visit from someone from the memory clinic. It was interesting how the questions were testing different parts of her brain. She said afterwards she was glad she'd been, we went for lunch and some shopping.
Little one was still off school as the nurses didn't come to swab her tubey hole until lunchtime, hopefully she's been ok to go this morning.
Right I'd best get dressed, I'm going into town to get my hair cut, I can't really be bothered but I missed my last appointment.
Hope everyone has a good day x

Good morning
Thank you for the start @AlwaysAllie
Terrible weather here, pouring with rain and strong winds. Definitely won't be going out.
@Gers I hope Lionel is comfortable
@TA I was given a beautiful heart by the hospice and one was placed in my DH hand. I was told it would stay with him. I often look at it and hold it close.
Take care
If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.12 -
SILVER 0 DD said they.were getting a lot of comments from people saying what a comfort the hearts are.
Lunch cancelled in view of the wind and rain. I was in agreement as not relishing turning out.in this weather! X
