Panasonic Viera TH42PX700 42" Picture changing colour

Help please:-

I have a Panasonic Viera TH42PX700 42" Plasma and the colour keeps changing on the screen. The best way I can describe this is by saying if you are watching a program and there is a pale/white background you can see flashing colours on the background. Peoples faces flash green quite alot. It is not completely obvious but you sit watching tv thinking why is that person a funny colour then you realise the wallpaper behind them is flashing pink or yellow. It makes me feel quite sick at times.

What can I do about it?

  • Sounds like a loose connection or decoding fault. Check scarts are all in and hdmi connectors are reseated. Check picture with terristeral ? signal.

Call out required then, do you have 1-5 yrs guarantee?

You don't need a warranty. Retailer should offer repair for you. (if there's no loose cables)

Thanks checked all cables seem fine, other TV's in house also connected to SKY do not have same problem. We do not have a TV aerial so cannot connect to terrestrial to check but assume as other TV's do not have problem must be a fault on the Panasonic.

It was bought on 12th July 2007 so still under warranty. After numerous phone calls to Panasonic and Currys we now have an engineer calling out on Friday.

Only have sky and wii connected to tv, been told to disconnect wii and only connect to play it - why is this?

A bit off topic but I'm going off plasma screens, I've been in a couple of currys shops looking to upgrade to the latest craze, and noticed whole lines of screen showing green or yellow on a few big TV's, what they had in commen was that they were all plasma, not a very good advert to keep them running, maybe they are trying to put people off.

More likely they don't have any staff with enough competence to set them up properly.

Definitely more likely. Why would they suddenly decide to regress the technology? Plasma is a more matured technology so actually has solved more of its technical problems than LCD.

Thanks totalsolutions for your input. We set up the tv as soon as it arrived, but it was lying flat in the delivery truck - does that make a difference? As soon as it came in the front door hubby had it unpacked and on the stand.

What moronic delivery company was that? We got ours from Empire Direct who deliver it themselves, the drivers knew to keep it upright at all times and they gave advice on setting it up etc. Professional and friendly and competant. If they laid it flat then they really don't know anything about plasmas and shouldn't be delivering them at all.

I think it can result in the glass front shattering but less extreme it can damage the electronics from the weight and cause picture deterioration.
