KLM flight cancellation & IndiGo flight delay (5+hrs)
KLM Cancelled flight (newcastle - amsterdam - bangkok)
My sons flight was cancelled by KLM due to the recent adverse weather affecting Schipol airport. They had cancelled it and he did not want to take up the flight that they offered in replace a couple of days later, so he went through the process to get a refund and filled in the form which asks the reason, ie KLM cancelled the flight. Last week £300ish was received in the bank account (Flight cost over £900). No email or reference on the payment, so I am assuming it is part payment for the cancelled flight that they cancelled? He did not cancel the flight. Any ideas anyone. I really do not trust them. There's no email to chase this up, waited on the phone for 45 mins to no avail and the chatbots are a waste of space. Any advice please?
IndiGo delayed flight (manchester - mumbai - bangkok)
Having booked a new flight, he had further bad luck with the delayed IndiGo flight from Manchester to Mumbai which was delayed 5+hrs due to 'air traffic congestion'. His journey from Mumbai to Bangkok with the same airline was then delayed another 4+hrs. Am I right in saying he should be able to claim for the first leg, but not the second one with it not originating in the UK?
I thought I would raise it through the Resolver tool, but when I input 'IndiGo' airline into the Company section it does not recognise it and it does not recognise its parent company of 'Interglobe enterprises'. Does anyone know what it would come under please?
Thank you in advance for any comments/advice.
Kind regards
bb

Not sure of effective ways of communicating with KLM, but there won't be any compensation due for the IndiGo flights, if delays were caused by air traffic control restrictions, as these are deemed to be extraordinary circumstances beyond the airline's control and therefore no compensation would be payable.0

Were both flights single bookings ticketed right through to Bangkok,or did he book any legs separately?
It looks like you have to contact them by phone...Phone

Hi there, thank you for the replies.
Air traffic congestion was the reason given.
It was one booking with IndiGo, Manchester-Mumbai-Bangkok.
Thank you
Kind regards

As a previous poster replied, there is nothing due from Indigo if the delay was down to ATC.

Was the £900 for a return flight or just the Uk → Thailand leg? Has he or will he travel Thailand → UK with KLM? That may or may not be refunded based on the sequence.

He should have received the duty of care eg food during a 5 hour wait. However no compensation due if the cause was not in their control.
