Hisense TV - Poor WiFi signal

Hello all

I have a Hisense 58 Inch 58E6QTUK Smart 4K UHD HDR LED Freely TV and it works absolutely fine. I bought the TV at Christmas  2025. However, I am noticed that the speed on the TV for the Wi-Fi is nowhere near the speed which are shown on my other devices such as mobile phone or Xbox. My minimum speed for Wi-Fi is 250 mbps and I get this regularly. However, I have done many Speedtest on the TV and it only shows as a maximum of 50 does anyone know why this may be?

The Wi-Fi router is around 3 or 4 m away from the TV, in the same room and the TV is mounted on the wall.

Has anyone got any suggestions on what I can do to improve the Wi-Fi speed on the TV?

50Mbps should be fine for anything you are streaming to the TV. Are you noticing any stuttering or buffering?

Unless it's a problem I wouldn't sweat it. No real idea why it's measuring slow.

50 Mbps is more than enough to stream in UHD, Freely requirements are 10 for HD and 40 for UHD.

If that connection is stable and you don't get buffering then I wouldn't be too concerned.

As your TV is dual band WiFi, split/rename the SSIDs on your router and connect to the 5 GHz band.

My tv just seems to be buffering like mad when I’m watching something on there that requires WiFi. And that is the only thing I can think of.

Do you know how I would split/rename the SSIDs on my router and connect to the 5 GHz band? I’ve not done that before and am not familiar with it.

once that’s done, would I have to change settings on the tv too?

From a quick look that's not unusual for a Hisense I'm afraid. Have you tried powering down and unplugging for a minute, then switch back on and try a speed test straight away. You may find it's higher but goes down fairly quickly. Can you hardwire it? I think that's limited to 100Mbps but it's more than enough and should be more steady. The other thing to try is the channel number being used.

Hi, funny you say that acttallY as I recall the last Hisense TV I had 4 years ago diabolical when it came to WiFi connection on there.  But, I put that down to the tv being secondhand and slightly older….. I guess it’s a brand issue?

Patch it to an ethernet port on the access point/router?

In the Hisense settings, can you choose between 2.4 GHz & 5 GHz bands? If so try them both and see if there's any difference.

Hisense are the cheapest TVs you can get, although they do a range of models at different price points.  I've had 2 in the past, and some other cheap ones (Digihome, Bush).

The picture quality is satisfactory but I've always noticed the weakest link in the chain is the TV hardware.  Get a Firestick and it will probably solve all of your issues (except from Freely of course).

The other option is to temporarily use a wired ethernet connection and see if that cures the problem

Hi! Yes I am starting to think tha in regards to the make of the tv’s, this being less superior to others …

I have a firestick already and I was initially referring to the poor WiFi speeds with this. I have since been able to change the WiFi to 5ghz on the tv and this has seemed to have helped
