Help me understand the timing of fund sales

Using interactive investor, I put in a sale request of VLS 80 at 2:44 pm on the 16th - last Friday. I know I had missed the cut-off for the Friday evening NAV, but I totally expected to get the Monday evening NAV.
The sale just completed today and it has used Tuesday evening NAV although showing the date and time of the sale as the 19th of January 09:15am but the price traded is £355.68 which is today's price/last night's NAV. Not a huge amount , but feels like I've been short changed about £500
I'm so confused by this

VLS has an unusually late valuation point, 21:00. The 19th was MLK day which may have had an affect3

Yeah, but they still published an updated NAV on Monday of £360.442 which should have applied to my trade stillColdIron said:VLS has an unusually late valuation point, 21:00. The 19th was MLK day which may have had an affectThe greatest prediction of your future is your daily actions.0 -
You won't have been able to trade that on 19th January as it's a fund holiday. Same thing happened to me in the past for a different fund and it took me a long time to work out the reason for the delay in trading.

Thank you for this. I understand my error now & will learn from this, I guess it's just a little bit misleading with the information given to me on the screen in ii regarding the request date, transaction date & settlement dates, and Vanguard published and updated NAV on the 19th, but it was not availableSnowMan said:You won't have been able to trade that on 19th January as it's a fund holiday. Looks like the same happened on VAFTGAG - I placed some trades on Saturday and got Tuesday's price.
It's times like these that I wonder whether holding an ETF would be better although there's no exact ETF equivalent of that fund.

Yes I'm thinking the same & especially now trades are only £1.49 in ii the ETF route seems better for frequent buy and sell so much can happen in 2-3 daysleosayer said:Looks like the same happened on VAFTGAG - I placed some trades on Saturday and got Tuesday's price.

Not sure whether this is the case with ii and I can't see anything explicit in their new plans but fees for trading ETFs are usually the same as for shares so would be £3.99 with "funds" referring to OEICs. Something to check before finalising your decision if it would make a material difference.dont_use_vistaprint said:

However you can not buy multi asset ETFs, although they might be appearing in the US I think.dont_use_vistaprint said:

They exist in some European markets too. Trading212 offer VLS ETFs. I don't think US ETFs can normally be purchased due to a lack of cost disclosure document aligned to our regulatory requirements.Albermarle said:

If you are worrying about the timing of trades you are doing fund investing all wrong. And so we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.2
