The OP certainly has egg on their face with this complaint.  Maybe the free eggs makes up for the confusion over content. :-)

     Napolina tinned tomatoes.

each can in the x4 pack contains 70% tomatoes compared to the individual cans that contain 99%.

Bananas, I am fairly sure it is made from bananas, or possibly beef.

    A ) Tomatoes 99.9% (chopped and juice)
    B ) Tomatoes (70%), tomato juice.

    apples and pears

It really is all quite surprising that a simple tin of tomatoes can contain such a varied range of ingredients.  At least it is a relatively macro-balanced diet though. ;)

Stop buying Napolina stuff! Dreadful quality; basically supermarket value line at inflated prices.

Either save money and get Tesco's own brand stuff, or pay a bit more for a good quality brand like Mutti or Cirio.

I've used budget tomatoes and I've used posh tomatoes, and assuming you're not just eating them out of the tin:  it makes little to no difference.

Nobody every ate a lasagna and said "It would have been better if the tinned tomatoes were more expensive"

As this is MSE. Supermarket own brand only. 35p a tin, compared to £1 for many branded brands...

    Well, maybe, sort of.

I do much prefer Italian Peeled Plum tomatoes to the simple chopped tomatoes

Having used budget and Mutti , I think there is a difference and it’s Mutti all the way

I'm sure there have been some who have a very good pallet that have, regular folk just say something more generic without being able to put their finger on what the actual cause was that the ragu wasnt as good as others.

Obviously what people tell you when you've cooked them a nice meal and what they think are not necessarily the same. Similarly there is a risk of snake oil/ placebo effect, that if you have used a higher quality of something that you believe it tastes better as a consequence.

I'd also argue that "posh" is not the same as "higher quality", some people but high end brand names on some real tat but can sell it at a premium purely for the name.

Well, personally, I believe I can tell the difference between a quality brand like Mutti and cheap supermarket brands. But I accept that not everyone agrees, which is why I suggested supermarket own brands as the alternative. What is daft, and not MSE, is paying extra for trash brands like Napolina which are neither good value nor good quality.

£1 to 1p all supermarkets/sellers are selling these tomatoes labelled in this way...not just Tesco.
