Water Usage Doubled According to Severn Trent - 2 Adults

To me it's a bit confusing as to how much you are using.
One day you use 0.490 litres, is that 490 litres or nearly half a litre?
It maybe how the water company does it or is that a cubic metre measurement?

While the table is labelled in litres, it looks like it's actually cubic metres.
0.490 = 490 litres.

So OP has been using about 170 litres a day or 63 cubic metres then.
I don't know if that's ok or bad.

It’s roughly double what we use, two adults also but no dishwasher.
EDITED: Roughly double instead of ’more than’ double.

Yes, 490 litres. Apparently the average water usage per day for two people is 300 litres. The 490 litres was due to several washing machine loads. Today's reading was 262 litres.

I’ve just done a rough estimate of what our monthly costs would be based on the small amount of usage data you have since the new meter was installed (avg 368 litres per day). Would be approx £72/month although your daily average is likely to drop as you mentioned above. Our costs equate to around £15 per month for each 100 litres used daily, with standing charges of 56.5p per day.

Update - we raised a complaint with STWA. After a lengthy discussion with them they have agreed as a gesture of goodwill to adjust our bill down to our average use and reduce our direct debit. We now have a new meter and I am monitoring the readings.
