Defence wording for Claim form
Hi all
I received a PCN from Civil enforcements LTD in 2023 which has now resulted in a Claim forum being sent.
I’ve read the threads regarding the procedure and suggested defence wording and have visited the MCOL website and completed the acknowledgment of claim.
I just wanted some guidance as to the specifics I should or shouldn’t include in the defence. In my limited understanding of these procedures, I cannot tell if the POC on the claim form specifies the alleged breach as it should and therefore if the first 2 paragraphs in the defence would be relevant in my case. I don’t want to include things in my defence if they aren’t correct, for obvious reasons.
I’d be grateful of any guidance.
Here is a photo of the POC:

There's already a special para 3 for CEL in-house claims, linked twice in the Template Defence threadPRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

apologies, I didn't know it was in house..... as I say I'm not familiar with the wording of these documents and the threads can get quite overwhelming with the amount of information provided0

In-house isn't a legal phrase. It's used in loads of contexts where company staff carry out tasks, rather than outsource it.
In this context, it just means they filed this claim themselves (without a third party solicitor) which you already know from the letters you got before the claim from CEL and from even a quick glance at your Claim Form. No solicitor. That box has been left empty.
Anyway just use the defence for CEL claims. No need to copy it here, as it doesn't need checking.
Just play the game: follow the easy 8 steps covered in the Template Defence sticky thread. No link is needed to that or the NEWBIES FAQS thread - which you must also read post 2 of, especially the red heading 'IMPORTANT: KNOW WHAT HAPPENS WHEN' because defence is not your only job.PRIVATE 'PCN'? With an issue date of 06/01/26 and providing you complete(d) the AoS after 11/01/26 and before or on 25/01/26 your defence deadline date is 4.00 p.m. on 09/02/262

Hi all, just a little update for you on my case.
We are now as far as having a hearing date set. 30 July @ 10am. Mediation call took place and a measly £30 removed for early payment. I told them no… of course!
As much as I am sticking to my guns and the guidance you've all kindly given, I can't help but feel this will go all the way and that they will turn up and knowing my luck the judge will side with them to set a precedence…..
Anyway, my worries aside, does anyone have an advice for me for the next stage if they do send a legal representative and the case does get heard?
Thanks all

When is or was the hearing fee deadline date, and did they pay it. ?
When is the WS bundle deadline date. ?
Have you received their WS ?
Have you submitted your WS. ?

hearing fee deadline was 4pm 02 July. I'm not sure if they've paid it. How can I find out?
Your questions have made me question the process…. I thought i'd sent a witness statement before but just read the letter again and see its asking for witness statements to be sent no later than 14 days before so assuming its something else and i've now missed the deadline ……
Should I send one late or is there no point now?
thanks
