It's likely that McAfee is reporting that your email address has been included in a list that has circulated on the "dark web". Not unusual, anyone who has had an email address for a reasonable length of time is likely to be on there.
Any suggestion from McAfee as to what exactly they have found?
Any suggestion from McAfee that they can sell you some more stuff to keep you even safer?
M&S had a data breach (actually a ransomware attack) where some customer data was taken (contact details, order details). No evidence that passwords or payment details were taken.
The suggested response was to change your M&S account password and be vigilant against any fraudulent online activity in your name (as you should be in any case).
If you were unwise enough to be using the same password elsewhere then you should have changed them too.0 -
When did MacAfee say this? Did you ask someone/something? Or did someone/something contact you?
There will adverts for companies offering to include you in some kind of mass compensation claim. If you're considering these, note that many of them (especially the ones you see on social media) will be out-right scams, other will be kind of genuine but the company will take a big cut of any pay out - so thoroughly investigate (not using social media) any company before signing up wtih them.
Also note that unless you have suffered a material loss (e.g. someone used the breached data to steal your money) then any compensation amount would be pretty small.0 -
Are you even sure the communication is actually from McAfee? I get regular e-mails supposedly from McAffe telling me of problems such as licence expiring. The only issue with that is that I have never used McAfee products.3

https://haveibeenpwned.com/ should tell you if your email address has been exposed (or more likely when) and in which hack.4

Also advises what has been leaked - including passwords.dumpster_fire2025 said:https://haveibeenpwned.com/ should tell you if your email address has been exposed (or more likely when) and in which hack.2 -
Yes, same here, simply looking at originator shows it's not them.TELLIT01 said:Are you even sure the communication is actually from McAfee? It's a great service, i'm surprised it's not used by everyone because it should be.dumpster_fire2025 said:https://haveibeenpwned.com/ should tell you if your email address has been exposed (or more likely when) and in which hack.2 -
Yes, since before Christmas on many of the radio channels ads for a particular company, sorry don't remember their name. Asking people to contact them about the breach at M&S and the CO.OP to join a class action through them.0

I’ve been trying to find out how to claim for M&S data breach. I don’t want to use a ‘no win no fee’ company, so as far as I know, contact M&S directly either by phone or their website. I haven’t done so yet but I’ll keep the this forum updated when I do.1 -
Claim for what? You need to have suffered a loss of some sort as a consequence of the breach (assuming your data was part of the loss) in order for a claim to be even considered.NealG said:

M&S won't just give you money because you think your data was part of the breach.
Good luck with your M&S enquiry, I couldn't even find a contact for a gift card question.1
