Virgin Media contacted me with a very tempting deal
£39.99 a month 24 month contract
500 Mbps Fibre Broadband
Biggest TV package
Sky Sports Mix
Full Netflix Subscription
Virgin GO
I contacted Sky and they offered be a deal for £88 a month for less. I have been with Sky for 24 years.
Anyone recommend Virgin?

Lots of people will, lots of people won't. I have Sky TV and VM broadband and have no problems with either. I'd jump at that deal, it's around half of what I'm paying for both (with less content).swansea_lad said:Virgin Media contacted me with a very tempting deal

Virgin are fine until you have to contact them with an issue or regarding renewal price; then you're on a voyage of discovery finding out just how bad customer service can be and how many times you hear the loop of piped music whilst you're on hold.1

I switched from Virgin Media TV & broadband to a Sky Glass TV and Vodafone broadband a couple of years ago. I don't know if it's changed since I left but the Virgin Media TV interface is horrible. It's really dated and quite old fashioned looking in my opinion. Getting Sky was like a breath of fresh air.0

I've been with VM (for broadband only) for years. never had a problem apart from the odd signal drop-out but it's rare. Our router started to show a red light a few weeks back, we reported it and they sent an engineer to fit a new router. It is much better and we're actually getting speeds of 400mb/sec despite only paying for M250.They are all cowboys when it comes to switching though, they'll put your next contract up to £75/month and say there's nothing they can do. Until you switch to someone else, then they might come back and say "but..but...we can offer you £60/month". All the companies do it. We were initially stuck with sky high bills because no-one else offered full fibre in our area. But since we've signed a 24 month contract, we've now been connected to Openreach so can shop around in 2 years time1

That seems too good to be true , hopefully you will get the offer in writing so if they don't honour the price you have some proof , also make sure that the price isn’t just for the first month or couple of months and is for the entire duration of the deal , although you need to allow for the annual price increases.swansea_lad said:Virgin Media contacted me with a very tempting deal

HOWEVER.....my contract is due to end in March & they are increasing it from £29 to 62 pm !!!
If you ring them (right faff) they offer you a 'deal' which is still £6 more pm & rises every year. I know they all do this & it's so annoying.
I will be looking for a new provider & carry on with the magic roundabout that broadband companies are.
Your deal looks good as far as I can tell.....beware end of contract & dire Virgin customer service0 -
My experience has been that the only way to get a decent deal from Virgin Media is to give your 30 days notice, and then (assuming you have given permission for them to phone you on your VM account) someone from VM retentions will call back a day or two later with a good offer.Suzycoll said:

I've done this 3 or 4 times, every 18 months. The first time or two it was a bit of a bluff, as the only alternative would have been Openreach over old phone wires (not fibre) which would have been very slow.
The last couple of times I was genuinely willing to switch to a new altnet provider who have recently dug up the pavement outside to put their fibre down.
Here's the most recent deal I got - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/81828853#Comment_81828853
But it's good to look for a new provider, in case they don't offer a good deal, but worth having in your head a price you would be willing to stay for, so that you can choose whether to take the deal if they call.
You still get 14 days cooling off period in case you change your mind, and the details are all described in the Contract Information & Contract Summary documents they email to you, so you can check they've included everything you want in the package, and what the price is going to go up to each April.0
