Hoping to do self managed DMP ... please check my ponderings

Hello everyone
I am hoping to create a self managed DMP as opposed to an IVA with StepChange. Is it really hard?
I am just starting to receive letters from Lloyds and MBNA to close my accounts and have received defaults.
No idea what to do next!!!
Not paid this month's payments... its scary...
Here are my details. Hope they are reasonable for a single working person.
I had an accident and am now working again thankfully and pay a podiatrist 1/ month as I still am not able/allowed to bend following my op...
I have a car that is getting on so I find i am paying more to keep it in good order.. its essential for work and its worth £1250.00
I am in this pickle for 3 events.
1. Terrible divorce and kicking up pieces of trying to clear debt built up by him but all in my name
2. Accident 2 years ago that involved 3 months off work and only received ssp so that used any of my small contingency
3. Another fall a year ago that involved a stay in hospital and rehab/physio etc for 5 months and although this time I was paid I had to fund a lot to get back on my feet and back to work including having to spend several hundred to keep car on road so I could go back to work thankfully
Outgoings
Groceries 200 this includes cat food and litter for one moggy
Meals at work 20
Laundry 50 ( uniform means I have to wash daily and my washing machine died last year)
Household maintenance 25
Clothing and footwear 30 ..

If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.1

Hi. No i am afraid I have looked at so many options I am unsure which is better option now!0
-
The other option might be affordability claims, or write offs, depending on the reason for debt.
So debt accrued in the marriage, or as a result of accidents, try write offs first? Others will have views.
But if that goes no where, look at a DRO?If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing1 -
Hi, I don’t know the circumstances of your divorce, and not asking to share if you don’t want to. I just thought I’d tell you some of my situation in case it helps.I was in a dv marriage which included financial abuse where he ran up debts in my name or used the joint account when he wasn’t working so only my pay going in. Spent mostly of beer and fags but meant I needed to use more credit for general living expenses - and some holidays in order to keep up appearances of all being ok.
anyway, so far, I have had 1 debt where I owed £12000 written off due to the evidence I was able to provide and am awaiting decisions on others.
i don’t know if this is possible in your circumstances but it might be worth exploring.Find a little bit of joy in every day.

Hi it was accrued in the main as I had to pay bills etc on credit cards as I didnt have enough in the early years when husband left etc.. then was just getting somewhere and had 1st accident...
I was hoping I could offer payments to creditors based on my soa and manage it myself?0 -
Ah ha I couldn't do a DRO as I have more than £75/ month..Grumpelstiltskin said:Have you looked0 -
Given how tight your budget is, and two health issues plus increased costs needed to maintain your health and work, I'd still talk to a good debt advisor with relevant experience about write offs.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing1

That is so kind of toy for sharing thank you. I cant really evidence the events that lead to my divorce but I really appreciate you taking the time to respond. I hope you are in a happier place now .RhiBi said:Hi, I don’t know the circumstances of your divorce, and not asking to share if you don’t want to. The difference between 75 surplus and 86 surplus is only 11 per month. That's £2.50ish per week - easily do-able for a debt adviser.
And come April you may well find your income goes up less than your electricity, gas, water and council tax
As a non-homeowner with a cheap car, all the options are open to you. It's just a case of choosing the right one.
You could benefit from talking things through with an adviser. Stepchange are as good as any but they would have to refer you on for a DRO2 -
Thank you so much... I will look at that now. My preference would be a DRO from what I can see ..fatbelly said:The difference between 75 surplus and 86 surplus is only 11 per month. That's £2.50ish per week - easily do-able for a debt adviser.
