I have tv contract with Sky & broadband (+ TNT Sports) with BT.  Is there any way to align contracts so that I can get a deal without paying cancellation charges?

Sometimes Sky extend discounts beyond the end of your minimum contract term. They gave me an extra year of discount without having to commit to a new minimum term last Summer, a couple of months before my minimum term was due to end.
If they do that for you, then it might help get your contracts aligned, depending on how out of sync they are.

I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for here, are you in minimum term with Sky & BT both? If so are you looking to try and get them to both finish at the same time so you can take both services from just the one company?

Getting both from Sky at least is no longer the guarantee of a better deal I'm afraid regardless.
