Using 20-mile-range PHEVs as though they were full EVs.Mrs QrizB has a small, cheap EV (VW e-UP!) but even so it has 5-7x the battery range of the OP's PHEVs.

If you're set on re-charging during the day then standard single rate electricity tariffs with anytime EV charging bolt ons may work better. See the Scottish Power EV Optimise and OVO offers in the MSE list of EV tariffs, but you would need to check if you can successfully manage two cars. Fuse may work too.

The OP's standing charge is also 20p/day more than mine which also adds another £70 a year for the dubious privilege of his EV tariff.
They only work if you can maximise the use of off-peak v peak rate. That's why I don't have a special heat pump tariff. I'll end up with a lot of grief from SWMBO if the place gets cold or she feels constrained by using leccy during certain times. (We've been married for well over 56 years so I know what's possible and what's unacceptable)Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers1 -
As a further thought, if OP can avoid charging and tumble drying in the 4-7pm window then the non EV ToU tariffs like Octopus Agile and EDF FreePhase may have potential.0

I’m about to start looking too, as I’m in a similar position E.ON Next Drive + export, and both are getting steadily worse.
Ecotricity still seem to offer 16p/kWh export, which looks attractive, but I’m unclear whether you can be on their EV tariff at the same time. Has anyone managed that combination?Also, has anyone switched SEG providers separately from their import tariff?
Is it as straightforward as switching a normal electricity account, or is there extra paperwork / delays involved? I’ve been with E.ON for around 5 years, so I’m not sure how painless the process is these days.
I’m sure there’s a sweet spot somewhere, but to be fair E.ON’s setup has been excellent, I’ve almost never had to use daytime electricity. Moving away might mean being much more hands-on with battery management:

Would really appreciate hearing what others are doing, especially anyone who’s found a good EV + SEG pairing recently, or knows of a comparison tool worth using.

There should be no great difficulty in doing that, but it usually isn't worth it as most if not all suppliers reserve the higher SEG rates for those taking their import from them as well. The SEG only rates are usually a lot lower.
