problem setting up Trading 212 cash ISA

I'm trying to open the Trading 212 Cash ISA and I've gone through the identification verification and I'm trying to deposit funds.  My bank is First Direct and when it asks me to put in my username and DOB it keeps saying the information is wrong , even though I know for a fact it's right.

Has anyone else had issues with this?

  • Yes I have a Nationwide account.  I have uploaded the details multiple times - however it doesn’t let me proceed to make a transfer.  I tried through a browser, through the app and on 2 different devices.

As there’s only 4 days left to qualify for the bonus rate I decided to transfer funds manually.  It says this takes 2 days to be credited to one’s account.  I transferred a few minutes ago and have just had a notification from Trading 212 that my account has been credited.

ok thanks, i'm trying that.  When transferring funds from my First Direct account, do i tap "send to a new person" and put in my name?  Or tap Send to a new business?

I've tried tapping send to a new person, putting in my name and the Trading 212 account number and sort code etc but it says payee details didn't match

I have First Direct account and didn't encounter any issues with depositing money with Trading 212 using the Instant bank transfer although I did this via my phone. I did had issue with trying via web browser to approve the transfer.

Did it specifically say it didn't match? Or that it couldn't confirm?

Confirmation Of Payee (the name check) takes a while to kick in for new accounts, so if you've only just opened the T212 account that's probably why. If you trust yourself 100% you've got the account number right then just crack on and send the money anyway. There's a couple of banks that don't actually let you proceed, off the top of my head I couldn't say whether First Direct does.

I've just put in £5 so far to make sure it worked ok and the money made it into the ISA ok and I'm able to transfer money in no problem now. Despite that,  I just feel slightly uneasy about transferring in my life savings when it said the details didn't match initially and also there's no phone number to call if I have any queries in the future - it's all online.  Plus the app looks a bit messy compared to other banks.  Maybe I'm being over cautious.

The name should be Trading 212 UK Limited, not your own name which why it was warning you as the name didn't match.

I can see you said it works, as long you got the correct account number, sort code and reference your account, it should go through.
