Hi, I cannot get the handle on my window to function. It is jammed in the closed position. I have tried spraying with silicon lubricant but no joy. Any suggestions?

They are Anglian Windows double glazed units.

Regular WD40 isn't a lubricant. They make a specialist PTFE spray that I successfully used on a difficult lock.

Edit: they originally said WD40 but edited the OP after I posted...

Look at the back of the handle that still works, you'll probably see a little cam that goes into the space above that screw, it retracts when you press the button. You need to lift that cam with a knife or credit card on the one that doesn't work.

Then you need a new handle.

Are you referring to the RH window?
What does it feel like, especially compared to the other handle?
It should feel as tho' it's 'doing' something - a resistance throughout, slightly firmer towards the fully closed position as the handle reaches pointy-down position. Does it? Do they both feel the same?

That sounds like a plan, many thanks. It worked a treat, now I need to get a new handle

The handle is stuck in the down (closed) position. It doesn't move. The button does move but doesn't operate the locking cam

They do have a habit of the plastic cam breaking causing that problem.

I have resorted to the brute force option using something like a big spanner to act as and extend the lever  forcing it open then unscrewing and replacing. They are usually widely available.

Not my preferred method but can not see an alternative!! Would be happy to learn of one for next time....

As mentioned above you should be able to slide a thin credit card like piece of plastic between the handle lifting the locking mechanism. Worked a treat for me when mine broke.

I used a pointed knife and it worked a treat, as suggested by Many Thanks EssexExile. There are some very boring videos on YouTube How to Open a UPVC Window When the Handle Mechanism Has Failed - YouTube
