Beko Appliance Care for a washing machine - worth it?

I know a lot of people say to steer clear of any manufacturer's extended warranty but I just registered a new Beko washing machine and their one actually seemed like it might be worth it depending on how long the machine lasts.
It costs £3.69/mo with the first 2 months free and apparently covers all damage, even accidental, including a replacement machine if necessary and can go on as long as needed - eg. a 15 year old machine would still be covered as long as the subscription continues.
If the machine breaks down without this it's gonna be £150+ to repair it, with Beko at least. I dunno, it seems slightly more reasonably priced than most extended warranties. What do you think?

Who's backing it? Guessing it's probably Domestic & General.jez9999 said:I know a lot of people say to steer clear of any manufacturer's extended warranty but I just registered a new Beko washing machine and their one actually seemed like it might be worth it depending on how long the machine lasts.

How much was the machine?
What happens if the machine is beyond economical repair?
In 15 years time you will have paid £664 for the warranty for which you could have bought 3 of their entry level model.
Most warranties arent that far off this price for a basic washing machine, they operate by having a very low premium and often people forget they have it and so after paying £664 they just buy another machine as its not worth repairing a 15 year old machine and then continue paying the inflated £3.69 a month after because they've still forgotten.1 -
Machine was about £350 so low-end but not exactly the absolute cheapest.0
-
Self insure - put that money away into savings each month. Do the same for all the other appliances you make the same consideration for. If/when there is a problem, you have a pot of cash to lean on. Beko normally provide a manufacturers warranty of two years with the machine (as long as you register) - so the first two years cover is really a waste of money. Your house insurance probably already covers accidental damage.1
-
As far as I can tell they only provide a 1 year warranty and a 10 year parts-only warranty if you register.0
-
So with your 15 year example you'd be close to being able to afford your third one assuming both fees and machines increase by a similar proportion.jez9999 said:Machine was about £350 so low-end but not exactly the absolute cheapest.
You also dont say what happens if its unrepairable, some will give you a new machine others you get a token discount off buying a new machine. At a certain age many machines become unrepairable as parts are no longer made etc.1 -
They say if it's unrepairable they'll provide a replacement.0

I had a Beko washing machine, basic one and it lasted for 10yrs and was fine till I dropped a microwave on it when moving house. How much do you use your machine? How carefully do you use it?If it's once a week with a normal load I'd put the money away each month. If it's stuff it full, heavy stuff being washed every 2 days then take the warranty
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
viral kindness .....kindness is contageous pass it on
The only normal people you know are the ones you don’t know very well

I f you are the sort of customer who gets through new washing machines every couple of years, then go for it. If you are the sort of customer who manages to make machines last a long time then leave it.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

Looks like your getting 2 years Parts and Labour and a 10 year parts guarantee.Hope your not paying that insurance now as they would be stealing 22 months at £3.69 off you. There after paying insurance for labour.Point being even decent washers dont last 3 years here, only Miela has and Panasonic, even then its not worth it.0

Ours is on 15 to 20 times a week, sometimes with the full 8/9Kg.hareng said:Looks like your getting 2 years Parts and Labour and a 10 year parts guarantee.Hope your not paying that insurance now as they would be stealing 22 months at £3.69 off you. Previous machine was a Siemens ( Bosch in disguise) and needed new motor bushes after 6 years, and lasted another 3 years after that before bearings went.0
