I am attempting to open an on line ISA with Hampshire Trust Bank but am having problems with their on-line form. I wish to fund this ISA by transferring funds from another provider. The issue is that the account number of the funding provider has letters in it as well as numbers eg. 2AB1234567SMA, and the online form will let me input the numbers but won't let me input the letters. Any ideas how to get round this? It is an online account only so printing off a form and filling it in manually, then posting, is not an option.
I've tried phoning HTB but am in a queue and I have no patience!

Check with the other provider, potentially it has another account number and what you are calling an account number should be added as a reference.Rusty190 said:All comments gratefully received.

The information on the online accounts with the funding provider (I have 3 separate accounts with them) all state account number...then the format for each as outlined above (all 3 different numbers obviously).0

Who is your current provider?
Assuming it's one who uses a generic bank account have you tried leaving the sort code and account number on the HTB form blank and entering your personal account number in the reference field? That usually works in this scenario.0 -
See if your current provider has any information on how to operate your account - eg for transfers or payments in or out. Account numbers usually have a fixed number of digits and what you quote looks too long. I know with Coventry BS they had (still do probably) account numbers beginning with a 9 but their information said leave out the first 9 when filling in the account number for transfers/payments.0

Is there a box for Roll Number? If so put it there.0

The Charter FAQ says:
We hope you choose to stay with Charter Savings Bank, however it is possible to transfer your Cash ISA to another provider should you wish to.
You must not withdraw any funds from the account and pay them to your new ISA as those funds will lose their ISA status. You must request the transfer through your new ISA provider, making a separate request for each Cash ISA product you have with us.
You will need to provide them with:
- our name: Charter Court Financial Services (Charter Savings Bank)
- our Account Number: 83495248
- our Sort Code: 20-19-90 (we partner with Barclays Bank to provide this service)
- the account number of each Charter Savings Bank Cash ISA product you want to transfer

I have read that t0rt0ise - my problem is inputting point 4 above ie. "the account number of each Charter Savings Bank Cash ISA product you want to transfer".
The account numbers contain letters as well as numbers.
I have 3 accounts and only wish to transfer 1 of them, hence, need to ensure correct details submitted.
Hampshire Trusts form (online) will not let me input the letters.
I'll try phoning them tomorrow and endeavour to learn how to be patient.
Thanks all.0 -
The account number that you need to use is Charters account number, as in t0rt0ise' post.
Your own individual Charter account number goes in a different field - probably labelled "reference" or "roll number" or similar.
How are the fields that you need to fill in labelled?0
