Cant get a new credit card

Hi all,

I'm trying to get a credit card with better benefits but nothing comes up on eligibility.

I currently have a capital one card £4000 limit, spend around £100 a month on it and always clear it at the end of the month.

Credit history is all good, Ive had some loans over the last 6 years and never defaulted.

Any suggestions on what I could do to be able to get a card from one of the big banks?

Thanks

Do the three credit rating agencies agree with 'good history'?

What benefits are you looking for?  If you only spend £100 each month, and clear it in full, you're obviously not seeking a balance transfer offer.

How many unsuccessful applications have you made?

Just to check, do you mean that you clear the statemented balance after the statements have been generated, as opposed to aligning with calendar months (if different)?

Any suggestions on what I could do to be able to get a card from one of the big banks?
    Who do you bank with?

Ive only done eligibility applications, I haven't done anything that involves a hard search. I clear the balance as soon as it appears on my credit card, I bank with Natwest, they wont offer me a credit card either

That doesn't answer the question - do you wait until a statement is produced before you pay or do you literally mean you pay the transactions off as and when they appear. If the latter then you are not building a credit history. Even if the former £100 a month isn't a lot.

    Income? Total debts?

If you're paying off your credit card before a statement has been produced, it looks like you're not using it.
You need to wait for a statement - that tells you how much you owe, then you pay it off by the due date (you can set up a direct debit to do this)

How much credit do you have available?

Do you have an overdraft - even if you're not using it?  Do you have motor or house insurance paid monthly?  Phone contract(s)?  Broadband deals?  These are all credit agreements that when balanced against your income might mean that it's too risky to extend you any more credit.

Reduce the overdraft. Have a phone contract that is sim only.  Pay for your insurances up front, not monthly.

And are you registered to vote?  That helps too.

Yes I pay it off as soon as it appears, I shall wait for the statement from now on
