Put a sign on your door saying not to leave parcels on the door step, as well as updating your delivery preferences with them.

My postie and other delivery companies usually follow whatever preferences I've recorded with them, but if I need to change it for some reason, a little note usually works.  If you make sure to put another lower down so it'll be in any photos the postie/courier takes to prove delivery, that might deter them from leaving things anyway.

On the app in my account I set the delivery preferences and they stay on there for all deliveries.
You must have a business or premium account because I don't have this feature.

Parcels can be delivered to our local post office for collection.

Check if your local offers this service.

No, The delivery preferences only kick in after the first failed delivery.
Some online retailers offer the service.

Not this one, otherwise I'd not have bothered posting here,

I have the normal royal mail app and in my account settings I can set the delivery preferences and they do adhere to them. I have my parcels delivered to my local post office as it is less than 5 minutes away. Amazon I have delivered to the post office or Asda.

The Royal Mail app refuses to run on my smartphone. It says it needs Android 10 and I only have Android 9. I can't login on the desktop and it says that access is denied. It won't even let me open a new account. Resetting the password doesn't work.
