Royal Mail dumped package on front door again

I live in a high rise council estate at high risk of crime. I make orders sometimes for items over £100. Royal Mail has always and consistently left the package in front pf my flat door (I know Amazon is ever worse but...)
All the times, I went through the usual procedure: wait 55 minutes over the phone, only to be given a case reference number and an email confirmation. No action for weeks. Then ring again and ask fr the case to be escalated. No action again, end of story.
Is there anything else I can do or should I just stop shopping online with companies offering RM as their only courier?
For Amazon and Ebay, at least I have the option of collecting the item at the local Waitrose, but for private sellers, what other options have I got?

Are items being stolen? If so report to police.Life in the slow lane0

Perhaps get the royal mail app and set your delivery preferences. I have this set up to collect at the local post office.1

I have an Opt-Out label so parcels should go to back to the Collections Office, but have still needed to complain about them leaving parcels in unsecured areas.
I use the online complaints form and quote any previous ref numbers on the same issue so they know it is a continuing problem.
I prefer to have an email trail even if I am constantly reliving groundhog day.🙄

Parcels can be delivered to our local post office for collection.
Check if your local offers this service.0 -
I just complained kept complaining to RM. there is now a big sign in the delivery office telling staff not to dump my parcels in my insecure porch. If I’m not in when they come I get a red card to collect from the sorting office, which is my preference anyway. It has taken a few years and a lot of complaints to get that point and some staff still ignore it.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have not could of.1 -
If you can visit the depot and ask to speak to the manager.Royal Mail are loading the work on the post workers, I guess being high rise they don’t want to lug it back it, although of course this isn’t your problem.
If you are buying from eBay? Private sellers should now be simply delivery and tracking given on the order page, you should be able to opt for different delivery options via the Track and Trace page for Royal Mail Tracked services, but whether the depot follow said instructions is another thing….In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -
The delivery preferences only kick in after the first failed delivery. The postman treated that as "delivered", so this doesn't apply.Jackie1813 said:Perhaps get the royal mail app and set your delivery preferences. I have this set up to collect at the local post office.

On the app in my account I set the delivery preferences and they stay on there for all deliveries.0
