Did anything else happen in regards to this?

I have received a similar cheque this morning, presumably relating to a speeding fine I paid nearly 2 years ago.

You almost certainly failed to send of your driving license.

They failed then to prosecute you … they have most likely wiped the fine and the prosecution as they failed to follow process and prosecute within 6 months.

    Call them to check.

Could it possibly be related to the ~2650 people who were caught by faulty cameras?

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

There is no requirement to send off your driving licence as per the attached screenshot from https://www.gov.uk/penalty-points-endorsements/returning-your-driving-licence-for-endorsement. I've had a couple of FPOs before and got points added without sending it in.

Clearly they didn't tell DVLA, as I just checked my licence online and it is clean, so it's their fault.

I will keep the SP30 in my insurance declarations though.

If the ticket has been cancelled why would you need to tell the insurance company you'd had one?

Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.
