Claiming back Airport Duty Tax from Turkish Airlines

My son booked a flight with Turkish Airlines from London to Kathmandu (via a stop off in Istanbul). He had to cancel the flight due to an accident a couple of weeks before the trip. Part of the cost is obviously Airport Duty Tax. Our insurance covered the actual flight but not the Airport Duty Tax. A call to Turkish Airlines helpline was unsuccessful as the person on the phone did not know about it and suggested completing a feedback form online. Trouble is, there is no category that fits that type of query online. Has anyone had a similar experience or knows how to claim from Turkish Airlines and who to contact?

I don't know the answer about exactly how to claim but for clarity it'll be best to use the correct term of Air Passenger Duty when doing so.

On this site there was a post regarding how to claim from numerous airlines but unfortunately, Turkish Airlines wasn't listed. Maybe Martin Lewis had problems finding out how to make contact with them???
