Balance transfer was processed 07th Jan. RBS confirmed sort code account i.e. no error their end.
Contacted Chase 12th Jan > "We do not accept balance transfer and money will be refunded within 5-7 days"
Contacted Chase 18th Jan > "We do accept balance transfers in but not out"
After discussions to confirm account numbers et al - I have raised a complaint

Chase credit card service is a joke.
I've made one transaction and realised it can be subject to cash-like fee, received so many conflicting messages from them and ended up paying it off to avoid the fees. When the statement came, there were no charges at all.

Just wait and see, they have no clue what they're talking about - so anything can happen.

Chase have over 149 million credit cards in use, they might have a bit of a clue how they work.

Maybe in US, in UK definitely not.
Regarding my transaction I've been told:
    - yes it will be charged extra
    - one agent referred me to another one, who said that quite possibly and don't do such transactions
    - one said he doesn't know and wait for statement on 3rd, I waited but never got statement as the moved my first week to the next month statement

I've paid off the card and wanted to cancel.

When the statement arrived the next month the transaction appeared as normal card purchase.

    I've cancelled the card.

My main concern is if the transfer has gone to a.n.other account & I have lost £7,340. Perhaps unlikely, but after 12 days without resolution, this is really stressing me out :-(

Chase agents in UK do seem to be clueless & poorly trained. They have given me £50 as a payment for their incompetence

    I agree with this comment

I am very pleased to report RBS have refunded the balance transfer back to my credit card.

I am still waiting for a response from Chase to my complaint.

  • Chase do now accept balance transfers into the credit card accounts ( to pay off the balance with them and move it to another credit card ). I accidentally used the 16 digit card number as opposed to the 16 digit ref number that you’re meant to use. As a result Chase reversed the transfer back to my MBNA card within a few days. When you log in to the Chase app, there is a section in the credit card details where it asks if you’re transferring to another card. Click that section and it will display a 16 digit ref number that you can copy and use to complete a transfer. Hope this helps!

OK I have found that link. What a pain in the !!!!!!.

This is really strange enter different number than your card number makes no sense to me. Call me a cynic but they make it very difficult, almost as if they don't want you to transfer the debt?

PS: still no response from Chase to my complaint.

Can I ask; how long did it take for your balance transfer?
