Morning all
All ok here storm wise but the rain and wind during the night was fierce, no damage though.
Yesterday went really well again I managed the personal care which was a big worry for me and made him his breakfast he ate 6 pancakes with strawberry jam, then he had his boxing lesson and his mum went out for an hour - she said it’s the first time she has been out alone for over a year, bless her, her life has become very small as all the does is stay in and look after her son. At the end of the day she nervously asked me if I would let them know by email if I would accept the job, I said that I would love to if they were happy with me, they both cheered 😃 I think they have both been very lonely, and it means that his mum can start to have a bit of a life.
Dinner tonight will be summer in winter chicken which is very quick to make and very tasty, there is washing in the wm but it will have to go on the airer today.
I am getting my nails done this morning and will then come home for a rest, the new job is much more physical than I am used to but that upside of that is that I have slept very well the last two nights.
Mehefin glad the date went well xx
I hope everyone is safe during the storm x
Have good days all and take care xx12 -
Good morning
A very wet and windy day here. Going out for lunch today with a friend - will try and stay dry!Been reading along but not posting. Real life getting in the way. It will have been 3 years next week since ds2 accident. We are back at the hospital at the end of the month. Need to discuss the amount of pain he is in as he is struggling still when he walks anywhere. The cold weather makes it worse and he is even more down than usual.
i worked Christmas & New Year but have booked next year off.
Today’s jobs are to do some washing, will hang indoors with the dehumidifier on, it has a laundry setting. I also need to food shop too as the cupboards and fridge are empty.
Ruby - hope the new job goes well
DP1 - pleased for your DD re the fostering.
we have not had any snow here just rain and it doesn’t look like it will get properly light today.
Ds1 is due to complete on his house by the end of January so really pleased as they are having another baby at the end of March, that will be number 4 grandson- no girls yet.
Have a good day and stay safe.15 -

Hello all, we too missed the snow so I imagine there were lots of disappointed children around this morning especially the excited little boy we met in town as his mum had bought him a plastic sledge ! Only 3 schools have been shut in the north of the borough, one of them is DD's.
I didn't get on here yesterday as I had an early hospital appointment then we went to town to go to the bank. We had a coffee then a look in the sales, Mr Fix It bought a wooly cardigan, however I on the other hand bought nothing as most of the items were in larger sizes. I called in Iceland for bread and got some ys rolls too, we had hot dogs for tea and put the rest in the freezer. We dropped the shopping off then went out again to Mr Fix It's surgery as he had to see the vampire nurse, finally falling through the door mid afternoon, shattered and wet.
Today the weather is calm but we have a weather warning about slushy snow, what slushy snow, we didn't have any 🤷♂️I have no idea as to what today holds just some housework probably and a delivery for himself.
dp1 congrats to your DD.
Crisca my freezer is much the same.
Take care all, stay safe and warm

Morning all, thanks for the start @Gers. Apart from some rain yesterday evening and overnight, Storm Goretti hasn't made much of a mark here. The gritter went down the road at about 8 pm but thankfully it wasn't needed - no snow, frost or ice this morning. It's still cold but feeling much milder and today should be mainly cloudy, perhaps an occasional shower. I've been looking at pictures of other parts of the country that haven't fared as well and I think we've been very lucky here; if you've been affected I hope you're safe and well.
I did lots of little pottering jobs yesterday, including getting the rubbish out and some of the weekly admin. I'll finish that off today once I get back from the hairdressers. I'm looking forward to hearing her baby news (four months old now) but still dithering over how much hair I want to dispose of - two, three, maybe even four inches. Usual fish tea tonight, fruit and yogurt for afters.
@dp1 - I'll keep my fingers crossed your DD doesn't have to wait too long for her fostering approval letter.
@mehefin - Sorry to hear you had the Dear John text but well done anyway on getting back into the dating game. For now, I'm enjoying my own company but am starting to feel ready to explore opportunities to make new friends - though definitely not looking for a new beau!
@Ruby - I'm so pleased you've accepted the new post; the hours of care you provide for that person will make such a difference to him and his mum.
@topsyturphy - Nice to see you posting, please pop in again when RL allows.
Right, must make a move otherwise I'll be chasing my tail. Take care, especially those in the bad weather areas, hugs for anyone who needs one. XXBe kind to others and to yourself too.12 -
Good morning everyone
Thankfully we escaped any signs of the storm, just some rain and a moderate breeze, it certainly has been a difficult time for some.
So glad the new job will work for you Red Ruby. It will certainly make a difference for his mum
Sorry about the text Mehefin, friendships are important when you are on your own
Good news about the fostering Dp1
So today's agenda includes a bedding wash, a look at the finances and deciding on tonight's tea. I sure know how to live.
Thoughts to the sad, lonely or poorlies
Take care x

Hi everyone,
Ruby, how lovely, I'm glad you are settled again.
dp1, well done to your DD, foster caring is so worthwhile, I hope she doesn't have long to wait.
Mehefin, commiserations.
We got home on Tuesday evening, we decided not to wait because the forecasts were becoming dicier and we needed to be home by yesterday for Nate. In the event we didn't need to as Crystal's mum had him, her husband has some health problems and needs an op so we thought we would be doing every Thursday for a while but it looks like it will be from the beginning of Feb.
We took the decorations down and for once Steve helped (he usually only does the tree lights) and then he vacuumed throughout and cleaned the bathrooms, I could get used to this!
We've meal planned around the freezer but need a few fresh things and bread and milk so we'll be going out later, it's a bit windy and rainy here but nothing out of the ordinary.
Have a good day.

MEHEFIN I'm sorry things haven't worked out and our mission to buy hats is on hold again. I am reminded of SPEKY who used to post on here a while back (probably longer than I am thinking) anyone remember him? He was single and every time he had a date we got to know all about the lucky girl and we were all planning our hat shopping trips. He suddenly stopped posting so we never did find out if there had been a wedding!
DP1 my fingers are crossed for your DD. I hope it works out well for her. And RUBY too, so pleased it's working out well and they are happy for you to stay. It will give his DM a little bit of freedom. TOPSY it's nice to have you back with us.
It's good to hear nobody (so far) has had any storm damage xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"9 -
Morning all, seems we have been very lucky in our corner of the NW and escaped the storm. Most of the black ice has gone too thank goodness. I could hardly get up with doggo up the road yesterday morning, lethal.Walk curtailed even shorter.Today was much better & we managed a slow but decent one - I just haven't had the energy but I slept all night without waking/coughing so hopefully the 'cough' virus is slowly going- 2 weeks and counting...Enjoy your trip Gers.@Mehefin,sorry to hear about the text,at least you had a nice evening though.@topsyturphy , so sorry DS is still in pain after 3 years, I hope the hospital visit can help.@redruby ,how lovely to know that what you have been doing is so appreciated, hope the mum enjoyed her time out.@carolbee , hope the house stuff is soon sorted.DS has been waiting months and months even though it got sold after a week- rings the solicitor and gets passed from pillar to post without any answers.Got a delivery last night but we really haven't been eating much so some may get put in the freezer.Take care all.:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'.
