Morning GERS and all to follow. I hope everyone is safe after the storm. Property can be fixed but lives can't. We were lucky here despite being on the edge of the forecast. We escaped with just light rain. Some horrendous footage on the news of a lot of damage further south.
Not a lot happening at Casa Abuela today. Friday Tidy as usual. Such excitement. I don't think we have ice finally but I won't be going anywhere. Maybe normal life will resume next week when we are finally forecast milder weather.
Have a good day folks with ((HUGS)) for all in need. Take care and be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"15 -
Morning Gers, and all to follow.
It's raining here, I don't think it's quite as cold, though the heating has just come on.
Dp1, glad to see that you've got your Mam and Dad sorted out with ' bracelets', and that you were able to have a chat with a relative. It makes you feel better to unburden a bit.
SilverOldie, I've been staying in rather than risk a fall, but cautiously went to Morries yesterday afternoon. The pavements of our main street have been gritted, that's a big help.
ShelivesintheShire, the old boys bacon sandwich club sounds lovely!
Glad things seem to be working out Ruby.
Did you find a bathroom you liked Coxy, you were going to look at them yesterday I think.
Be careful on that ladder WickedLady.
Don't know what's in store for me today, probably nothing but the usual chores. However they have to be done.
Hope everyone has a good day, stay safe and warm folks.15 -
There's only been rain and coldness here, nothing as nasty as down south. My nephew flew up from Birmingham airport about an hour before it was closed down. He's in Glasgow for work so I'm taking the bus down this afternoon to have the evening with him and one of his colleagues. It'll be a short overnight visit which I'm looking forward to.Yesterday's 'shape' was rather flat though I went back up the road to the big town as an order I made had arrived! I took the opportunity to take newspapers to my friends halfway up. After that unexpected flurry of activity I slumped a bit again until the DW needed to be emptied.Wee backpack is ready for off. I'm not taking a change of clothes, just undies, as we're not going out, we'll probably stay in the hotel lounge. The two men are in a different one from me.Great reports from everyone yesterday, I really hope that all's well today despite the truly awful weather. Hugs all round.13

Morning all from snowy but wet WorcestershireThe sleety snow started bang on schedule at 6pm, quickly turned to wet sticky snow and we had about 3 inches in the space of just over an hour. The wind was horrendous and has blown the snow onto all the windows which now look like a Christmas card. Our telephone cable was nearly touching the conservatory at one point it was so heavy. I had an awful night and heard a creaky crunch at one point which sounded like a tree/branch cracking - I wouldn’t be surprised if there are trees down after the summer dryness, then loads of rain and the heavy snow. The main road looks to be moving but college is closed so I have a snow day. Will tackle the drive with NDN (it’s shared, and long) later.Hope everyone else is safe and warm. Take care all

Morning all and thanks for the start @Gers x
Wet here but we escaped the brunt of the storm being so far East. I am WFH this morning as have negotiated a few extra hours going forward.
Hope everyone has remained safe overnight and that power/water is all still working.
We did find a few options for the bathroom @ScarletRibbons. Just need to price things up and speak to BIL who we are hoping will fit it all. It’s an awkward space in the eaves and as with most things, we don’t know what’s behind the false walls/under the floor in terms of plumbing until we start. Eeek!
How was the date @mehefin? Same lady or someone new? Hope the horses are okay x
Salmon and veggies for tea tonight - yum.Have a good day all

Morning everyone it’s pouring down now a bit icy still but no snow I’m not looking forward to emptying the van at the food waste but at least I will be nice and warm at the charity shop this afternoon. A shepherds pie has been taken out of the freezer ready for when I get in tonight and no there is still no room but we are going to be well fed for a good few weeks and no money spent except for some fresh stuff. Stay safe everyone in this storm I will keep everything crossed that you keep your power on especially the heating and no falls . Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing13

Morning everyone
Just a quickie as I'm out earlier than usual to get mams' shopping, I'll take it to their house and have a cuppa with them before work.
The panel all recommended DD for fostering, so she just has to wait for the approval letter now - it had been quite daunting as the panel was made up of 10 people, all asking her questions.
We went to a local Indian restaurant for tea to celebrate, I shared a chicken Korma with little one.
Must make my lunch, hope everyone has a good day x14 -
Good morning form a very soggy Mehefinland
Well I escaped the snow and the worst of the wind but by gum did it rain! I was in the local market town seeing a friend and it bucket down so hard and suddenly that we had to take refuge in a coffee shop
as you do lol. I wasn't too far from where I had parked the car but still got soaked. She had her little dog with her and had to walk much further to get home- at least the dog had a coat on and we were sort of prepared for some rain, but not the deluge we got.
The field was like a lake at 4pm but has cleared considerably this morning. Glad I put the horses in to the stables early yesterday -even then poor Fairy looked a bit drowned rat like. Showman has a rug so he was not too bad.
@Coxy11 my date was with someone new - I think I'm turning into a Lothario lol. It was pleasant enough, and we had a lot in common so had a good chat and a bit of banter. Will see how things go. It's been a very long time since I was in the dating game - things have changed so much and I will admit to floundering a bit with technology and how things have moved on in the 40+ years. But then, if there's a spark......
Hope those of you with snow are keeping warm, and not overexerting shovelling the stuff. Hugs to the poodles and anyone else in need of one
