EasyJet changed my seats

Just before Christmas, I received an email from EasyJet as follows:

"We're sorry to say that the flight times for your flight to Barcelona on EZYXXXX have changed. Your new flight times are below. You'll also be flying on a different aircraft."

"As the seat configuration on this aircraft is different your seat number(s) may have changed, you can see if they've changed. If you haven't booked seats(s) then you're not affected."

As a result of this, the seats I booked and paid extra for have been downgraded.

I have already paid for extra legroom seats and to change them back means paying yet another fee fee which I believe is unfair. Can these seats I booked be reinstated or money refunded?

I'm trying to contact EasyJet vis online chat. It could be a while...

Yes, you're due a refund for the seat costs, or a free move to equivalent seats.

Update: I got hold of EasyJet, I stated the situation, after some arguing I was told that the seats I originally booked had been reinstated. However, email confirmation contradicts this - they are just the same.

EDIT: Does any one know if I'm entitled to a refund of any kind?

If you view the booking online, what seats are allocated there? That will provide better evidence of which seats you are currently allocated.

Once you've located the seat allocation - do a screenshot as evidence.

My story might help you.

Ryanair changed plane on a flight I took last year, resulting in the extra legroom seat I'd booked and paid for not being the seat I was allocated. They only refunded me £7, the extra legroom seat cost me £15, saying that they'd only refund the difference between the price of legroom and the price it would've cost me to choose a standard seat in that area of the plane. They wouldn't budge, pointing to their T&Cs so I went to dispute resolution.

Heard today that result found in my favour and Ryanair have to refund me the full £15.

It's taken ages, the flight was in June 2025, but didn't take much effort on my part and I'm very content to hold Ryanair to the rules.
