Problems with Interacting Investors virtual portfolio

The problem is that, potentially, nobody runs it any more. If you go to the main II website it says they're not accepting new sign ups.EthicsGradient said:I had an II research account several years ago, so I tried logging in - it worked, with a current email address and the old password (which I had written down). So I logged out and tried the "I've forgotten my password" option, and yes, it said "we've just sent you an email to reset your password", and 20 minutes later, nothing has arrived.
But I've no new suggestions, I'm afraid. I do remember being told, on the old forums that ran alongside it, that it was a completely separate system from their dealing platform (when I pointed out they were making huge valuation errors on the research portfolio), and I think the implication was that different people handled it (because I'd cast doubt on the competence of those programming the research one).
I can't see any way of taking the problem - which seems general about the reset email - further, apart from a phone call to their general weekday number 0345 607 6001; tell them it's not just your research portfolio login that has the reset problem, but everyone's, and all you need to do is get the contact details for whoever runs the research portfolio login to report their major problem. Emphasize how you're helping them, and how it doesn't look good for ii to offer a service that people might use to see if they're any good, but doesn't work.0 -
What exactly are you trying to trace? ISAs will be with someone like AJ Bell or Hargreaves Lansdown to name a couple, but if you've active investments they'd be sending you emails or postal statements. Have you moved house or changed email address.Okay20 said:This is the most relevant and helpful reply, thank you. I haven’t found anyone as yet who had the same issue, and it appears now that there is unfortunately no solution. I phoned this number 4 times to try and maybe get one person who could help, but unfortunately each and every one of them put me on hold and spoke to their manager, and the answer was always the same….”we don’t have anything to do with the Virtual Portfolio now so we can’t help “. I have since realised that I can get help from HMRC in terms of any forgotten ISA’s (which I know of already but I’m double checking) as well as a company called Gretel who can try and track any lost investments using your details. I would always double check on whether companies were safe and legitimate before doing this, but Gretel are legitimate. There are other companies out there as well who do this, so for anyone else who is having a similar problem I hope this helps. Thank you again.
If they are directly held shares, can you remember the company?
It's hard to believe that the only record you have of the investments is in a "virtual portfolio" on another website, when every investment would generate either paper or emailed correspondence.3 -
Ah, I'd missed that. Yeah, hard to get a company to care about something they're already ignoring and letting rot away.TheBanker said:
