First year it's not been free due to needing security to comply with the new laws following the Manchester arena bombing.

Farmer Phil's in Shropshire. It's on a campsite and you can stay the whole week before the festival. Lots of space, hot showers (if you time them well) and a relaxed festival at the weekend. Beautiful surrounds for walking, and a pub within walking distance for enjoying during the week.

Equinox  in Lincolnshire. It's kind of a crusty hippy festival but it's so friendly, just an amazing vibe.

Uncanny Valley in Suffolk. Similar vibe to Equinox but much smaller

    Not A Cult in Worcestershire

      Broadstairs Food Festival:  3-5 May

Easiest place to park up is at the Canterbury Park and Ride.  Get the bus into Canterbury (ticket for up to 6 people included in the price for parking) and then get the bus to Broadstairs from the Canterbury Bus Station which is just over the road from where the P&R bus stops.

You can get to lots of different places from Canterbury.

Parking at the P&R is just £4 per day (midnight to midnight) so extremely good value.  There is fresh water, grey and black waste disposal plus litter bins.  The toilets are also open by the bus stop during the day while the buses are running.

Message me if you want more info.

      Sidmouth Folk Festival. Beginning August.

If you're interested in random things, think about local shows? Patterdale, August Bank Holiday. Or rotate between Hebden, Malham and Kilnsey. Or Reeth? That's just one weekend.

Vans in the Valley, also Reeth/Grinton in early July?

There's a VW festival at Harewood House in Leeds every year I believe. Ideal if you've got a VW camper van, or just like VW's.

I've never been, but i was talking to a few people at Leeds Festival who had been to Chilfest in Hertfordshire. Very much an 80s/90s tribute - some tribute acts and some real acts. Leeds Fest is an acquired taste - mostly for the under 30's IME.
